Has anyone else noticed getting a phone call that seems like it’s from just down the road? It’s quite common now for firms to route their calls over the internet, and they use a trick often found in cold calling to make the number look like it’s from your area code. The main reason they do this is because most people are more likely to answer if the call shows a local number, maybe thinking it’s a family member or something important.

If you try to call them out they just end the call straight away. Total scam, really dodgy. Wouldn't trust them for a second.

I just received a call from this number regarding an incident at work, but they quickly dismissed my questions and then hung up without any explanation. Quite mysterious!

What a typical annoyance! I had some stranger on the line prattling on about whether I’d experienced any workplace mishaps. I went along with their spiel and mentioned that I had, just for kicks. Next thing I know, they pass me off to a supervisor, only for the line to suddenly go dead-my number must’ve been blocked shortly afterward. Clearly, a polar bear mauling me and resulting in a lost limb doesn’t count as an injury, eh? 😂
