Received a call from this number earlier today. When I expressed my lack of interest in their dodgy pitch, they turned nasty and started hurling abuse and profanities. Absolutely appalling behaviour!

I’ve been avoiding this number like the plague, yet it continues to stress me out. From what I’ve gathered, it’s one of those long-standing Windows scams, which really don’t seem to be fading away anytime soon.

They contacted me claiming there was a refund waiting for me, but insisted that I needed to uninstall some software I hadn’t even paid for. I would never divulge any personal details to them, not a chance!

Some bloke with an accent said he worked for BT Openreach and told me our internet would be cut off for a few days. I asked to talk to a supervisor and he just ended the call. The number was 01663 749279. This exact guy called me before and was really nasty. Can someone please shut these scammers down?

I received a call from someone claiming to be from BT Openreach, saying our phone line would be disrupted for about three or four days because of a suspected internet hacking attempt. I mentioned I was half-asleep, but he seemed unfazed by that. Surely, if it were BT, they'd typically apologise and arrange to ring back later. He insisted I hop onto my computer right away to conduct some checks for him. When I told him I didn't have a computer, he suggested I use my iPad instead, which prompted me to end the call. The fellow’s blunder was calling my mobile rather than the landline, but even if he had, I still wouldn’t have bought his story. I can only imagine some might fall for it, though. I hope this accounts for something, as my first instinct was to verify the number, and I'm thankful for the insights other users shared regarding this.

Honestly, it’s best to just ignore these shady characters. Don't give them the satisfaction of a response!

Received a rather suspicious call today, 26/09/16, from the number 01663749279. An individual with an Indian accent claimed to be representing BT Openreach (I believe). He mentioned some dubious activities associated with my internet browser and indicated they would need to suspend my internet service. I've encountered a couple of these calls recently; the last time, I had a right go at the woman on the other end. This time, however, I decided to humour him. I inquired if he knew who I was, to which he insisted my name was Welma. I corrected him, but he kept repeating it while I firmly said no several times until the line went silent. What a bunch of muppets!

I got a call from 01663749279 earlier, and the person said they were from the police. But then they just hung up on me straight away, this was at about 9.16 on the 22nd. Bit odd if you ask me.

Today, I received a rather unusual call from a woman with a distinct Indian accent who claimed to be representing BT OpenReach. She informed me that due to some dubious activity on my internet line, they would have to disconnect it. I mentioned that I wasn’t even a BT customer, and she promptly lost her temper, shouting that any interruption would be my responsibility. Curious, she inquired about who my actual internet provider was, to which I could only chuckle before hanging up the phone. Quite the bizarre experience!

Got a call from a foreign bloke claiming he wanted to refund £300 into our account. He said the firm was called PC Support and that it had folded. I told him I never paid that company and that I'd confirm with my bank first. Asked him for a callback number, he gave me "448081686470," which sounds like a UK number, yet he said he was calling from America. Seemed dodgy, so he hung up. I’m definitely going to look into that number, but I’m almost certain it’s some kind of scam.

On the morning of 07/08/16, I received a call from a bloke with an American accent, claiming he needed to discuss my computer. I told him to stop wasting my time. Since I’m on the Telephone Preference Service, I was ready to report him. But then, about three minutes later, the same guy rang back, insisting it was really important to have a chat. I told him off and hung up. Not long after, he called yet again, asking why I wasn’t answering him. I ended up shouting at him to piss off a few times before cutting the call. Luckily, he hasn’t bothered me again today.

Got a call that sounded like some kind of automated alert, and almost straight away my phone showed 36 missed calls all at once. Tried to hang up but couldn’t, so I ended up pulling the plug from the wall socket. Phone was dead for about 15 minutes after that. When I finally looked up the number, it was linked to reverse phone lookup stuff. Honestly, be careful talking to strangers on the phone these days - could be a scam just waiting to happen, not to mention the dodgy robot calls too.

I had a rather amusing phone encounter with a number yesterday, the 8th of May, 2016. The chap who first got in touch had quite a strong accent, clearly from India, and I found it tricky to decipher his ramblings. He was harping on about issues with my internet speed and supposedly wanted to lend a hand in resolving it. Being somewhat savvy to these dodgy tactics, I decided to entertain him for a bit. Before long, he summoned his supervisor for assistance. This new bloke came on the line, exuding confidence, only to deliver the same heavily-accented spiel. Things escalated quickly; he lost his cool and ended up shouting, “F**K YOU, YOU MOTHER F**KER!” before quickly hanging up! I'm curious if anyone else has encountered a similar scenario with these cheeky scammers? Quite the laugh, isn’t it?

this bloke with a weird accent rings my office phone all the time. ive told him loads of times to stop calling but he just wont quit. he says something about a problem with my windows on my pc. sometimes i just let him ramble and then tell him my work pc is working perfectly fine, cheers. he still claims he's ringing my home phone about my home computer though. the moment i explain that the number he’s dialing is actually my work one, he just ends the call.

Beware of the Windows Support con artists!

They had the audacity to claim, “Your Windows machine is reporting errors to us, indicating a malware issue”.

I couldn't help but chuckle and replied, “Every single one of my machines runs on Linux, so nice try! Cheers for the scam attempt, but I’ll be taking my leave now.”
