Got a call today from some supposed financial survey, but when I picked up, the line just went dead. This is actually the fifth time they’ve rung me, each time from a new number yet I'm pretty sure it's the same person pretending to be someone else. So annoying!

I got a call from a woman who sounded like she was from China and she already knew my name. At first, I figured it was some life insurance pitch, but when I asked where they got my phone number, her reply was so unclear I had to ask again. Picked up the phone, but it was all silent on the other end, despite hearing faint clattering of keys. I tried greeting them several times, but no one responded before the line mysteriously cut off. What a shame! I do enjoy a bit of banter with these sorts of calls every now and again.

Why would a loft insulation company ring me up at 8pm in the evening? They had my details spot on, name and address, seemed quite promising with a free survey offer - brilliant, especially with the economy as bad as it is, who wouldn’t want some free tips on affordable insulation and heating options? But then she asked if I owned the home. Told her it’s a council house and suddenly she just hung up, no farewell or anything polite. Proper rude and a bit aggressive, that woman.

First there was silence, then a young woman's voice came through. She said her name was "Amber," but the accent didn't really fit. She asked if she could talk to my wife. I told her she’d passed away about 4 years back. A pause, then she said sorry. Next, she wanted me to do a quick survey about loft insulation. I told her no thanks, I've already got loads in there, like a foot thick at least. I could barely catch her mumbling before the call ended.

On the 23rd of May at 4.52 pm, I got a call from somebody who sounded Indian. They asked if I was a certain person, but I told them they must have the wrong number and ended the call. Felt like one of those scammy calls to me.
