Got a call from some bloke named Ivan at CGL, who was really dodgy about what their company actually does. Wouldn’t say anything about their services, but kept pushing to chat to the Managing Director. When I refused to connect him, he got a bit grumpy and eventually gave up.

Received an unsolicited call from a chap named Ivan representing CGL. He struck me as rather sly, refusing to divulge any details regarding the nature of their business or what exactly they were proposing. However, he was rather persistent in his desire to converse with the Managing Director. After some time, he seemed to get rather irked when I wouldn’t transfer him and ultimately decided to hang up. Quite an odd experience, to say the least!

Got a call wanting to chat with a director about a job. They asked for a sales director who wasn’t right, so I instantly thought scam. I gave them the right director’s name but she said no, it had to be the exact one they mentioned! Clearly, they didn’t bother to check their facts!

I'd advise you to rethink your approach, John Cooper. Having your team outright fabricate statements like "I'm working on a project with *insert director's name here*" comes across as immensely dubious. If your company isn’t, in fact, a scam, a bit of honesty would certainly serve you better for reaching the directors without resorting to such devious stratagems. Do make a point to review your recorded conversations, as they seem to corroborate many grievances voiced on this platform. It's high time you provided proper training to your staff; Linda, in particular, comes across as rather brusque and perpetually disgruntled. Until you take the necessary steps to rectify these issues, I’ll persist in my efforts to expose how unreachable those directors are!

I had a chap ring up wanting to have a natter with our directors, but as luck would have it, they weren't around at the moment. He then claimed he'd just reach out to them directly, making it sound like they had a prior conversation. I sense it's a ploy to get me to nudge them along next time - like that's going to happen (not a chance!). Honestly, I'm flabbergasted by the sheer volume of these sales calls we get, and it seems like they’re all employing the same old tactic these days. 🤷‍♀️

Got a call out of the blue, someone asking for the "shareholder" - bit dodgy if you ask me. Sounds like an old school scam tactic. We're in 2022, not some decade past where calling like that was normal. Really should have stopped by now.

Got a call from Ivan at CGL, but he wouldn't say what the call was about. Said it was confidential but wouldn’t explain further, so I couldn’t put him through. Our MD doesn’t answer calls if he doesn’t know the purpose. Ivan ended the call saying if I wasn’t passing it on for a confidential reason then it didn’t matter. Just be upfront about what you're offering and save the hassle.

I’m sorry John, but the bad reviews really show what's wrong with your company. You keep making cold calls yet won’t even explain to the receptionist what your “services” involve. No business worth their salt would let a random call reach the boss if they had no clue what it was for, especially when everyone’s so busy. Saying you’re legit doesn’t change how off-putting this approach is.

Got a call from someone named Ivan Cohen who wanted to talk to a managing director about some so-called "confidential business matter." I asked him for more details since we don’t usually have dealings with him, but he got quite nasty, saying things like "this isn’t how we do business" and that if I needed more info, he wasn’t interested. I tried to pass him onto the director, but even he said we needed more clarity before going any further. Seriously unprofessional and quite rude. Would steer clear of this one!

Got a call from 0161 8701556, a Linda Grey from CGL, who was really pushy about speaking to one of our directors. She kept saying she’d already been in touch with him, but didn’t explain how that could be since we never got anything. Seems like she just grabbed the director’s info off Companies House and didn’t realise directors don’t just pick up cold calls. From what I hear, loads of others are getting the same runaround. She mentioned she was calling for someone named John Cooper.

So this Linda Grey rang again, doing the same old routine, wanting to chat with one of our directors but only by his first name. I told her he wasn't around today and offered to take a message or find out what it was regarding. She said it was some kind of advice about a project and that she'd get in touch later. When I asked if she’d got his email (no way was I sharing it!), she just said she’d follow up next week. Yeah, right, like that’s going to happen!

I got a call from someone named Ivan Cohen as well, and when I told him our MD was busy in a meeting, he sounded a bit patronising. So yeah, I think they could definitely work on how they come across on the phone.

I got a call from someone named Ivan Cowen, wanting to talk to the MD. When I asked him to send an email instead, he asked if I was the MD's PA. After I said no, he mentioned, quite politely, that since it was a private matter, he really needed to speak to the MD personally. When I pushed for her details, she just said she didn’t have time coz she was heading into a meeting. I found it odd she had time to ask for a director but not to tell me her name or number. She just got a bit sharp and repeated she was about to be in a meeting. So, I ended up ringing John Cooper later to let him know about how his person handled the call.

Turns out, she was fibbing and only pretending to know what she was talking about. I really can't stand dishonesty, so there's no way she'll be getting through to any of our Directors!

Got a call from some dodgy number, rang them back but it didn’t go through, said number wasn’t recognised. What’s the use of calling if they’re not even gonna leave a voicemail when you don’t pick up? Totally pointless!
