I received a phone call on my landline that turned out to be a recorded message. Just like others have said, I got an automated call claiming to be from HMRC about some legal matter, telling me to 'press 1 to talk to your case officer' - total scam. Funny thing is, I'd already got that same message sitting in my junk folder for blocked calls (BT 1572). Before this, I kept getting calls threatening to disconnect my internet, so I must've blocked one of those numbers, which they’ve now reused for this fake HMRC thing.

I hit "1" like they said, then got through to a bloke speaking with a really strong Indian accent who said his name was "John Williams" - bit suspicious if you ask me! His accent was so heavy I could barely catch a word, maybe one out of three, so I ended up just hanging up.
