I received a phone call from a number claiming to be from HMRC. The person on the other end had an Indian accent and spoke quite impolitely, instructing me not to interrupt them until they finished speaking. Moreover, they mentioned that the conversation was being recorded. When I expressed my disapproval of their manner, they responded insensitively, saying they didn't care. The previous statement remains true. The HMRC and the Police are reputable institutions, and they would never reach out to individuals in this manner. These are common deceitful schemes that must be thwarted.

I discovered a voicemail waiting for me on my answering machine. The caller claimed to be from the HMRC. Intrigued, I called back the number, however, the individual on the other line spoke broken English with a foreign accent. Suspicious of a potential scam, I directly questioned him about the legitimacy of the call, and promptly, he abruptly ended the conversation by hanging up. Persevering, I made another attempt and surprisingly, the same man proceeded to answer once more. Annoyed, I mentioned our previous disconnection and in response, he ended the call abruptly once again.

Just moments ago, I received an alarming phone call, claiming to be from HMRC, stating that they are preparing to take legal action against me. I was instructed to press 1 in order to speak with my case officer. It is quite evident that this is an elaborate scam. I must admit, their timing is quite cunning, as it coincides closely with the approaching deadline for tax payment on the 30th of January!
