Got a call from 0161 8591883. My elderly mum answered yesterday and they claimed she was involved in some legal action. She wasn’t having it and argued for a bit before ending the call. About 5 minutes later, they rang back again but this time my mum told them she’d just spoken to her son, who’s a cop, and she knew it was a scam. They quickly hung up after that.

I received a couple of rather unsettling phone calls recently. The first one had the audacity to leave a message with a threatening tone from HMRC. Then, about a week later, I answered just as they were leaving another similar menacing message. When I requested their name-while he was keen to have mine-the chap remained surprisingly composed. In fact, he even provided me with an address and suspiciously concluded by stating he'd be sending out a warrant! If you happen to get a ring from this number, there's really no need to panic. It can be quite disconcerting initially, but rest assured, it's certainly a scam!

Today around 13:37 I got a robotic call saying it was HMRC, threatening with some legal action and telling me to press 1. When I did, a man answered, saying he was a case worker. I questioned him and then he just hung up. I tried calling the real HMRC number after that, and then rang the original number back, leaving a message on their answerphone. Later, I got a call from 02033090330, a guy told me to call him on my mobile at 03002003300 to confirm his identity. When I told him I wasn’t happy with all this, he ended the call.

These scammers don't care about age at all. My elderly mum, who’s 95, got a call from this number pretending to be from the Inland Revenue. That department hasn’t existed for over a decade now, but thankfully Mum's sharp and didn’t fall for their tricks. Still, it was worrying enough that she rang me up just to check what was going on.

I rang up my Gran, and she got some sort of automatic voice prompting her to press 1. She wasn't having any of it and hung up the call. So, I decided to ring the number back myself, keeping my number hidden, naturally. What a surprise! An American-sounding response team answered, asking for my personal information. No chance, I’m not playing that game!

Just a heads up, I got a call from someone pretending to be legit, even gave me my own name and address with the postcode right. But two things made me realise it was a scam. First, he asked for my date of birth - big red flag there. The second was even worse, he wanted my national insurance number. Don’t ever share that, it’s like handing them the keys to your whole life. I asked him for his number so I could call back, and also requested a letter from H.M.R.C. He got angry and told me to jog on. Honestly, watch out for this kinda thing!

This arvo, at around 4pm, my mum got a dodgy call from a robo voice saying it's the tax office, threatening legal action against me. On Wednesday 7 March at 3:03pm I got a silent call from this number and just ended the call straight away. I decided to call it back using 1471 to see who it was, and it just rang out, so I disconnected. Seeing what other people have shared here, I’m glad I didn’t answer properly, but it seems I’m on a bit of a spam list - this is the third time I’ve had one of these silent calls in a row. I’ve now blocked the number so any more calls get sent straight to my junk voicemail.
