Received a call purporting to be from my electricity provider. When I inquired about which supplier they were representing, they had absolutely no idea. It's quite clear these individuals are fully aware they're trying to con folks out of their money. Don't play nice with them!

Got a call earlier pretending to be from the renewals department, sounded legit enough and even mentioned the correct supplier this time. But when I looked at my actual bill to double-check the renewal date, it was nowhere near what the person on the phone said. Running a business means we get loads of these rubbish calls all year, really annoying and time-consuming. Always best to have a peek at your bill first and if you're not sure, just end the call straight away.

I’ve had three calls from someone saying I’m due to be automatically renewed on a plan unless I sign and send back a letter. Thing is, I don’t even have an account with Eon, which is who they claimed to be from! Running a small business is stressful enough, and then these calls telling me I supposedly missed a letter had me really worried. I told the caller to ring back later and used the chance to go through my paperwork properly, only to find out it was a total scam. It’s really awful how they’re using these tricks on people who are already under pressure just to make a quick sale. This kind of misleading behaviour should definitely be stopped. Big thanks to the folks above who shared their stories - it really helped confirm that my gut feeling was right.

I've had 3 calls from some bloke named Ben going on about some letter I never got and telling me my renewal's up, which it isn't. If he rings once more, I’m telling him where to go.

What a dodgy call that was! This bloke pretended to be from my energy provider, trying to convince me to switch my tariff. He rang me from a number that doesn’t match any of my actual electricity accounts, so I nicely told him to take a hike. Just another scammer trying their luck!

I received a call from a dubious outfit purporting to be linked to energy providers, attempting to persuade me to alter my tariff. Strangely, they rang me on a number that isn't connected to my account. I'm starting to suspect it's all a scam!

I called Nina earlier, and she suddenly said she wasn’t from Scottish Power, even though she knew when my contract was up. I asked if she had any family and told her what a terrible thing it is to try and trick folks like that. That’s my little rant done now :)

I got calls from this "Live Energy" lot two times today (22/5/14), saying I hadn’t paid some electric bill. They actually had my name, mobile number and even knew what kind of work I do.

Thing is, my landlord sorts the electric bill with me directly, so when I explained that, they just cut me off.

I keep getting calls from this annoying Nina who refuses to take the hint that I’ve got nothing to do with any bills. She’s either very rude or just slams the phone down on me! It’s really frustrating.

I keep getting calls from some company called Live Energy Inc, and they keep saying they're from the “renewals team” but never properly say who they are. When I tell them we’re signed up with Scottish Gas on a 24-month deal, they just ignore that and keep asking if I’m happy with a renewal quote that I’ve never actually seen or asked for. It feels super dodgy and like they’re just trying to trick me into something. I’ve heard British Gas has had issues with these lot too, cos I spoke to them about it once. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Got a call saying it was about renewing my gas and electric contract. As soon as I told them I pay by paper bill at the post office and wouldn’t share my direct debit info, they just ended the call. She’s called me like three times over the last couple of weeks, always the same lady who sounds really pushy and quite rude.

Got a call from someone pretending to be our energy provider! When I asked for their company name, they dodged the question and just said they were calling about our contract renewal with British Gas - which isn’t even up yet! When I told them we’re on the TPS list, they just ended the call immediately. Total scam if you ask me!
