Hi there! I received a call from someone touting an O2 deal, and I unwittingly handed over some of my personal information, believing it to be legitimate. I'm now realising that it might have been a scam. What steps should I take to rectify this situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Had a couple of calls from Manchester this morning, both from numbers starting with 0161. I don't know anyone from there so didnt bother picking up. The first one seemed dodgy so I blocked it straight away. Now this other one rang, I just blocked that too. Pretty sure it's just some scam or spam calls. Definitely not answering again!

I got a call from 01618500009 saying they were from 02. They said it was about a SIM card replacement after I supposedly filled out an online survey. It sounded dodgy, so I ended up ringing the actual 02 customer service. They told me they hadn’t received any such request from me and told me to just block the number. Definitely a scam!

Got a call from someone saying they were from O2, quizzing me about whether I’d been checking out SIM offers and if I’m tied into a contract with them. I told the bloke that if he’s really from O2, he should already know my contract status, and then I just ended the call and blocked the number. These scam calls are getting way too common now, honestly they should all just piss off.

I kept receiving calls that I ignored for ages until I finally decided to pick up. Turns out it was O2 trying to sell me a SIM-only deal that they claimed would outperform my current plan. Honestly, I’ve got unlimited everything, so I’m not sure how they could improve it. I’ve decided I won’t be answering any future calls from them either, especially since the bloke on the other end was rather pushy about my decision.

Someone rang me pretending to be from O2, saying I was eligible for an upgrade. I told them my contract was still pretty recent, so it didn’t make sense. I got a call from someone named Clair Wilson offering to upgrade my O2 contract. I decided to ask if she was interested in filing a PPI claim since my info showed she might have some PPI owed. She didn’t really seem bothered about it, even though she could possibley get back thousands. She just wanted to chat about the O2 deal, so I ended the call.

I received a rather dodgy phone call today from someone claiming to have a fantastic deal on O2. Let me tell you, the chap was incredibly pushy! He kept insisting on getting my email address to “verify” his identity, which immediately set off alarm bells. Even after I explicitly stated that I wasn’t keen and had no desire for any credit boosting - as he proffered - he just wouldn’t take no for an answer. It's beyond me how some people think we’d fall for such blatant scams!
