Phone number ☎️ 01618187299 👆 is reported as associated with aggressive scam calls, primarily impersonating HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), employing threatening automated messages and rude operators with foreign accents, often Indian or American. Callers pressure victims to provide personal details or pay supposed tax debts under threat of legal action, police involvement, or loss of assets. Many victims note repeated calls, silence when answered, or disconnection upon inquiry. The scam extends to fake loan offers demanding upfront fees without delivering funds. These calls are distressing, especially to vulnerable and elderly individuals. HMRC officially states they do not make such calls demanding immediate payment or solicitor involvement. It is advised to never engage, avoid returning calls, block the number, and report incidents to Action Fraud or the Information Commissioner's Office to help curtail this ongoing fraud.

Today I got a call from 0203 884 3225. The caller said he was Denis Quay from HMRC and said I needed to ring them back quick, saying there were serious issues and I might need a solicitor if I didn’t. It was really intimidating! Just a heads up, this is a SCAM!!! Don’t fall for it. Best to just hang up - they’re trying to trick people into giving away personal info or money. If you're worried, ring HMRC directly using the number on their official website. Remember, HMRC never ring and threaten legal action or ask for cash over the phone.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, said press 1 if you wanna talk. They started asking for my name, address and NI number. I told them, if you really are HMRC, you should already have all that info, right? The woman sounded Indian and was quite rude, saying I’d get a massive fine if I don’t comply. I told her it’s a scam and she just kept saying no problem. Such nonsense, hope no one gets tricked by these scammers.

They claimed to offer unsecured loans. This is definitely a scam - some guy called Brad Allen says he works at their Manchester call centre. Their email is [email protected][###]. Be warned, they take fees upfront and then ask for extra payments allegedly for tax. You never actually get the loan. They keep demanding more money and promise it’ll be refunded if you cancel, but it never is.

Like others have said, I just got a recorded message telling me to ring this number or get my solicitor involved immediately, or I’d face legal trouble - said it was from HMRC. Since I recently paid some tax, I thought there might be an issue with my payment and nearly got caught out. I rang the number and was told to speak to ‘Dennis’, so I asked who was on the line, but the bloke refused to give his name, just saying ‘HMRC payments’ before hanging up. That’s when I realised it was a con. A close call. How long before they catch and lock these scammers up for good?

Just a few mins ago I checked this site before I blocked the call. Here’s a little advice - if you have no idea who it is and weren’t waiting for a call, why bother picking up? Best to just ignore it. Always check the number here first and see if it’s flagged. Honestly, it’s rare for it to be some legit lottery win, no one’s gonna tell you they’ve passed away over the phone, you’ll hear in due time. And if it’s important, you’ll get a letter or an email, no need to risk it.

I recently had a rather unsettling phone call from this number, purporting to be from HMRC. They were alarmingly convincing! At no point did they request any payment or personal information; instead, they informed me that legal actions were already in motion and that I should prepare for a call or a visit from the constabulary. They went on to outline a series of accusations against me and inquired if I had legal representation. Once I hung up, I took to the internet to investigate the number and discovered it was a known scam. To top it off, about ten minutes later, I received an email suggesting that things could be resolved if I sent money straight away.

Don’t fall for it since HMRC UK doesn’t hire US or Indian cold calling firms. It’s crazy that despite all the noise about data privacy, these scammers still somehow get hold of your personal info.

Got the same automated call last week from a Reading number, sounded like a woman with an American accent. She said she was from HMRC and was really threatening.

Got a call from a woman with an American accent saying she was from HMRC. Clearly a scam, but it’s really upsetting for older folks. She finished the call by saying “have a nice day.”

Got a call from this number just now, the tone was really aggressive, saying I owe £3,900 in tax and that I’d be taken to court. They also said I couldn’t use my passport or driving licence and that my bank account was frozen. When I called back, I spoke to three different people, all with Indian accents, trying to figure out which company they were from, but I ended up just hanging up. These scammers are really out of order and could scare vulnerable folks. This number needs blocking ASAP.

I got a robo call saying it was from HMRC. I reported it right away on the ICO site because automated calls like that aren’t allowed anymore. You should report it too if you get one!

This number rang me a couple of times over the last week, each time leaving a voicemail from someone called Sarah Wilson claiming to be from HMRC and telling me to get my solicitor sorted. I’m certain if HMRC needed to contact me, they’d send a proper letter, not some dodgy message with an American accent and a number that definitely isn’t theirs. My phone flagged it as a likely scam, so I’ve blocked it now!

Got a call from this number claiming to be HMRC, with a woman speaking in an American accent. She warned me about legal trouble if I ignored the call and told me to get a lawyer. Then she oddly said, "have a nice day." Seems like a total scam or fraud to me. Honestly, it was quite a poor attempt if you ask me.

I received a message myself that hinted at potential legal action, which left me a bit rattled. Thankfully, I decided to look up the number and stumbled upon your remarks. It's quite astonishing that, in spite of these warnings, they're still in business. Surely someone must be able to intervene!
Thanks a lot for any help you can provide.

Just like what others have stated, it kicks off with a recorded message that talks about possible legal repercussions.

Got three missed calls from this number and they left a really threatening voicemail pretending to be from HMRC, saying I was going to get into serious trouble and should have my lawyer on standby. I called back and these muppets couldn’t answer any proper questions. When I said I suspected it was a scam, the bloke got annoyed and just hung up. Proper rubbish! Don’t be fooled by this scam, folks.

They ring me multiple times daily but either no one picks up or they don’t bother to leave a message.

So annoying. They ring me like 6 or 7 times every single day. I tried blocking the number but it still keeps coming through.

Picked up the phone and all I got was a robotic “bye” before it just cut off. Been getting calls from the same number over and over. Pretty sure it’s just some kind of scam.

Got an automated call warning me about some legal trouble. Completely a scam, don’t trust it.

I picked up and there was no one there, just a voice saying ‘goodbye’ recorded. Strange!

I received a voicemail that was rather concerning, as it included some rather alarming threats of legal repercussions. Honestly, who do they reckon they are to speak to folks in such a manner? The individual on the other end sounded surprisingly mechanical, and whilst I could grasp the menacing parts, the rest of their message was utterly incomprehensible.

Somebody called saying they were officer Sarah Wilson with an American accent, left a voicemail warning me to ring them back or I’d get into legal trouble!

Got a voicemail from someone called Sarah Wilson, lucky I didn’t pick up since I had no idea who it was. The message said that if I didn’t ring back, I should have my lawyer ready, then ended with a weird ‘have a nice day’!

I got a call from this number and they left a really scary message, saying they were from HMRC. It was a man with an Indian accent and his English wasn’t very good. He said his name was Andrew Morris and threatened to pass my details to the police because I supposedly owe money three times over. It was horrible. I looked up the number while still on the call. Definitely block this one. TOTAL SCAM!!!

Got a call from a woman who sounded American saying she was from HMRC. She was really threatening, saying I'd regret ignoring her. Definitely block and report, as this could be really harmful to people who might not be as careful.

Got a call from someone saying they were Officer Sarah Wilson at HMRC, sounded American and told me to get in touch or they'd take action, mentioned my solicitor too. Was a bit worried at first but after seeing these comments, I’m not so sure now.

My grandad rang me all worried because someone from this number phoned him on his mobile, claiming he owes £3900 in tax and would be hauled to court the next day with the police coming to seize his car and stuff. I know that’s total rubbish. Such a scam.

Got a voicemail from someone named Sarah Wilson with an American accent, saying she was from HMRC and that I had unpaid taxes. I rang her back, and when I asked who she was and what the call was about, she insisted I owed them money and demanded the name of my solicitor. When I pushed her for more details and questioned the whole thing, she suddenly turned quite nasty and rude. After I kept asking about how this worked, she abruptly ended the call, warning me I'd regret not listening to her.

The automated message was so unclear, I had to look up the number. If you really owed anything, they wouldn’t send such a rubbish message. Plus, you’d be well aware of it yourself! If you keep up with your taxes and bills, there shouldn’t be any debt hanging over you.

I got a really horrible threat on my voicemail. It’s clear it was some kind of scam. I can’t imagine how upsetting this would be for anyone who’s vulnerable. I wonder, how do these scammers decide who to ring up?

Got a robo voicemail today claiming to be from HMRC, saying it’s urgent and I need to ring back or my solicitor, or else trouble’s coming. Honestly, it was so daft me and my mates couldn’t stop laughing - sounded like a total joke! Immediately knew it was some scammer having a laugh. Have blocked and deleted the number straight away. This number phoned me yesterday and left a dodgy voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, telling me to call back. When I did, some guy started going on about me owing tax from 2013 to 2017 and said I was accused of fraud, warning I'd be arrested if I didn't sort it out. I told him to get lost and that I’d be waiting if they wanted to send any arrest warrant. That really annoyed him. Then, less than a minute later, I got a text from another number just saying “Screw you”. Total scam and pretty rude!

I rang the number back and an Indian man answered, claiming to be from HMRC saying I was involved in a tax fraud case. He kept asking me to verify my name over and over but I said if they really had a case, they wouldn’t need me to say it myself. I told him it was all nonsense and he responded that the police had a warrant out for me before wishing me a nice day! Seriously, don’t give these people any details. It’s a total scam just to try and scare you into handing over money. HMRC would always send a letter first, not call like this.

My partner got a threatening voicemail just like yours. I rang the number back from another phone, and a bloke with an accent that sounded Indian answered. He asked which number we had been called on, so I just gave him a fake mobile number. He tried to look it up but couldn't find anything in his system, so the call went nowhere. I pretended not to know much and asked if I owed HMRC any money since I had my card with me. He said no, so I just ended the call then. Seems like they’re picking certain numbers for some reason. Either way, best to just block that number straight away.

I’ve received a few calls from this number claiming to be HMRC, stating that I'm being investigated and urging me to seek legal counsel promptly. Furthermore, I’ve had similar interactions from a London number, 02032872436. When I raised my suspicions and mentioned that I believed it might be a scam, they were rather brazen and offered to ring me back using the official HMRC line - which they actually did! I’m baffled as to how they pull that off. I’ve since reached out to HMRC directly, and they confirmed they would never initiate contact by phone; all correspondence would be done through written documentation. Also, upon checking, both numbers are flagged as potential scams.

Received four calls from them. They left a message threatening dire legal repercussions if I didn’t get in touch. At 78 years old and living solo, this has been quite unnerving. I believe the police ought to take action regarding this. I was genuinely scared until I saw similar remarks from others. I hope sharing my experience aids someone else out there.

Got three calls from this number all in the same day. Didn’t answer any of them. They didn’t even bother leaving a message. If they really wanted to speak to me, a message wouldn’t hurt! From what I’ve seen in other comments, sounds like the chat could be pretty intriguing - I actually worked at HMRC for 16 years, so I’d be interested to hear what they have to say.
