Got a call today at 11:35 from an American lady’s recorded message, telling me or my lawyer to get back to them. Honestly, it felt really aggressive and quite intimidating. This is actually the second time I’ve gotten this call, so I’ve just blocked the number now.

Got a voicemail on the afternoon of 19th Jan on my phone. Not many people have my number, and honestly, I can’t even recall who it was. The caller said she was Claire Williams from HMRC, but sounded really robotic and spoke with a US accent. The tone was pretty intimidating, telling me to get my lawyer to ring them straight away. No explanation about what this was all about, just threats of legal action if I didn’t respond. Definitely a scam, so don’t bother answering or calling back!

Got a missed call earlier, so I rang back. A bloke with an Indian accent answered, saying he was from HMRC and that I owed some tax money. I told him I’m currently without a job, and then he said he’d look into it and get back to me later.

Just got a call from this number saying I’m due in court at 12.30 today, which is rubbish! They wouldn’t let me talk to any supervisor either. Then another call came through from 01786 289070 claiming to be the police and that they were on their way to arrest me. Really scared me at first, but now I think it’s a scam.

The automated voice with an American accent said she was Clare Williams from HMRC, telling me or my solicitor to ring the number she gave straight away or face “serious consequences.” Don’t let yourself get scared or tricked by this - HMRC would never get in touch like that, so just ignore it. I also tried reporting this to Action Fraud, but honestly, that process was a proper hassle and not straightforward at all!

Had a couple of calls from 01786 289070, first one was a bloke called Kevin Paterson saying he was from HRMC. Then later got another call from someone named Jessica Smith, claiming to be a police officer threatening to come to my workplace. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.
