I've been getting over 20 calls from a really nasty person who keeps switching numbers whenever I block them. They’re being really annoying, and I haven’t even got angry but they say they’ll keep ringing no matter what. The police didn’t seem bothered when I told them, but my phone company has filed a report under the privacy and electronic communications rules from 2003. Honestly, I’m not expecting much to happen and I’m thinking I might just have to get a new number.

I've been getting constant calls from all sorts of numbers, including this one, about some motor claim payment they say I should be getting. I told him to take me off their list, but he kept pestering me about why I’d refuse money they claimed I was owed. He said he couldn’t remove me unless I gave them a reason, which felt a bit off. Told him I was feeling harassed but he didn’t seem to get it, and he came across as pretty rude and arrogant. After a bit of back and forth, I got put through to someone who said they were a manager, but they kept pushing me to sign up too. I warned them the call was being recorded and if they kept bugging me, I’d have no choice but go to the police. Not sure if that will actually make them stop though.

This number rings me up pretty much daily, sometimes two times, once about half four and again near six. They keep asking for my missus about some accident she supposedly got into. Was pretty sure it was an insurance scam. I told them I wanted everything in writing cause I didn’t feel right talking over the phone. Then I asked if I could talk to a supervisor and just got stuck waiting forever on hold.

Honestly, these people are the worst, and they’re probably one of the reasons why our insurance costs keep going up. What you need to do is gather as much info as you can about who’s calling - the company name and where they got your phone number from. Then be clear and firm, tell them they don’t have permission to use your number anymore, nor pass it on to anyone else. Say you’re going to complain to both the data protection authority and Ofcom about their behaviour. Make it very clear they’re not to call you again. Afterwards, head over to Ofcom’s website and log a complaint, including the company’s details and your number. Also, do the same with the data protection regulator’s site. It’s really the only way to put a stop to these annoying calls.
