Whenever I get calls like this, I just ask where they got my number from since I’m on the telephone preference service and it’s actually illegal for them to call me. If they ring again, I say I’ll report them. Normally they say they’ll remove my number from their list. Honestly, all the arguing, banter, or even swearing doesn’t really help - this way works best every time.

Hello, they phoned about my accident. I said, "It was really awful and made me feel terrible, I couldn’t walk right for over an hour till I got home." She goes, "We can assist you with a claim." Then she asked me to explain exactly what happened. After about 20 minutes of chatting, I finally said the accident was in the town centre. She asked what happened, so I said, "I shat myself and ruined my new trousers." No more cold calls since. Just have a laugh with them, they’re quick to remove your number then.

They rang me five times today. If they ring me again, I'm gonna put them on speaker, carry on with whatever I’m doing and just drag it out to waste their time. If you’ve got a moment or hands-free while driving, have a long chat with them - it annoys them way more than just cussing at them.

I’ve blocked this company but they keep ringing from different numbers. When I picked up, I offered to take a message and they were quite reluctant to say it was about a credit refund from a loan. I suppose the safest bet is to only pick up calls from numbers I recognise. Anyone legitimate will leave a voicemail anyway. Really frustrating.
