Been getting calls nearly every day for the past week, had to put them on block though. Honestly, there ought to be some kind of law to stop this nonsense. I get that they’re trying to earn cash, but there should be a rule like if no one answers after 3 tries, they have to quit! Once all this calms down, I bet we’ll see an inquiry and those calls will start up again. Paying those muppets a hefty chunk, like 30% or maybe even more, for what they collect is just ridiculous… I’m definitely planning to get that money back!

Some bloke kept on about me having some PPI money owed, even though I told him I didn’t. I asked him to stop calling, and after he shouted at me I just hung up. In my opinion, it appears that scammers are extracting contact numbers from Gumtree advertisements. These individuals are making deceptive phone calls, falsely alleging that I have insurance coverage from a motorbike accident. They persistently requested my banking information to supposedly issue the insurance payment. It's worth mentioning that at the time they alleged the incident occurred, I was actually out of the country. They were also unaware of my real name; they only knew the name I had used on Gumtree. Of course, I should clarify that I am amusing myself by prolonging these interactions.

Since 11th August, I've had about 5 calls from them, and each time I've told them to stop. Today, I spoke to someone who asked why I wanted to be taken off their list. When I explained how many times they’d already called, the person accused me of lying and acted really rude and confrontational. Honestly, I don’t think I should have to put up with that kind of attitude from someone who somehow even got my number. I’m planning to take this further because surely it’s against the law for them to ignore a removal request, isn’t it?

When using an Android device, you can save the phone number to your contact list. Afterwards, locate the number in your contacts and select the edit pencil icon. Got a call earlier today from this same number. The bloke said his name was Ryan and was asking loads of specific questions. Then he went on about PPI and some banks, claiming the company was overseen by the Ministry of Justice or something like that. When I asked where they’d got my phone number from, he just mumbled something about online stuff. He even recited my full address! He asked if they could ring me back on my mobile, but I’ve already blocked the number now. Fingers crossed they don't ring me again.

An even more distressing statistic is that around 95% of the calls I get at my doctor's surgery happen to be spam as well. It seems these healthcare establishments, along with various other entities such as hospitals and dentists, often sell our personal information, including phone numbers, names, and even dates of birth. Shockingly, despite the unethical nature of this practice, it is not considered illegal. This situation is truly appalling but sadly true.
