Blimey, I can't fathom why this number keeps ringing me only to hang up! It's been relentless for more than a fortnight now. They previously bombarded me from a different number, calling me as many as six times a day! I've managed to block both numbers, so at least the incessant ringing doesn't disturb my peace anymore. The other number is 01618140561, if that helps anyone else!

The phone rang twice, but I didn’t pick up as I didn’t recognise the number. They didn’t bother to leave a voicemail or anything. If this turns into a daily occurrence, I shall have no choice but to block it.

So, this lot is called The Central Claims Group, based at 40 Princess Street, Manchester M1 6DE, and their phone is 0161 814 8633. Pretty sure they're one of those dodgy PPI claims firms, using some trick with their phone system to yank the last four digits around - I've had calls from nearly 20 different numbers all starting 0161 814 xxxx. Now I just ignore all calls from that area code. Proper pain in the neck!

From what I got, they’re just trying to check your name. Like they’ll say, “Hello John,” and if you reply, they’ve got your name sorted. So now they’ve got your name matched with your phone number. I’m not sure what they do after that, but it’s probably for dodgy stuff like spam, adverts, junk calls, or maybe even worse stuff :(

This number rang me up, the guy gave his name and asked to confirm mine. Said he’s working for a company checking how well houses or flats are built. Mentioned lots of tenants in my building have been moaning about damp issues and asked for my opinion. I told him I had no clue what he was on about and that I don’t live at the place he named. Feels like a scam to me, maybe the longer you stay on the phone, the more access they get to your device. My tip: answer if you want but definitely block the number afterwards.
