Today at around 9.15am I got a call from this number, and the person knew my name, claiming they were from preference services. I’ve had calls from them before. Once, someone told me they were from social housing about damp issues in my house? It’s starting to get really irritating now.

The bloke said he wasn’t trying to sell me anything but then went on asking for my details. He somehow knew my name was Richard (I’m not!) and wanted me to verify it. I just hung up straight away.

A woman called me, knew my name and number, claimed she wasn’t trying to sell anything. She said she just wanted to ask three quick questions to check some details about me, but I cut the call off right then. She had a south east asian accent, sounded foreign. Just got a call from this number claiming to be from Amazon saying I’d bought a £75 wardrobe and it would be charged to my visa. They said if that was fine, I could just hang up and wait for delivery, but if not, I had to cancel by calling back. When I rang, a guy with an Indian accent asked for my email and told me to switch on my computer so he could sort the cancellation. I told him I don’t have an Amazon account or a computer. Then he just hung up on me. Definitely a scam, no idea how much that call cost me though!

Got a call from some automated voice asking if I made a £77.99 purchase, said to ring a number if I didn’t. When I dialled back, some lady asked if she could get into my computer. I just ended the call straight away.

Just got a call from this number claiming to be from Amazon. They said I’d bought a wardrobe worth £75 and that the money would be taken from my visa card soon. They told me to hang up if it was fine, and my wardrobe would arrive. But if I wanted to cancel, I had to call them back. My mum got a call about some £77 charge on Amazon she supposedly made - total scam. I tried calling them back cos it sounded dodgy, but it was some call centre with an Asian accent.
