Some bloke called me pretending to be from HMRC, saying I owed tax and was flagged for fraud. I decided to mess with him a bit, asking my own questions, and eventually he got all worked up, threatening the police would arrest me if I didn’t cough up £990. He started shouting and huffing, so I told him off not to yell at me, then hung up. When I rang back, I just got an answerphone that said “Welcome to Timperley Wooden Stove Centre.” Proper weird!

Got a recorded call warning that my internet connection would be disconnected within 4 hours by my provider. Pretty obvious that it’s just a scam.

They then handed me over to 'solicitors' called Thorneycroft, even though on their site it clearly says they won’t reach out unless you get in touch first. I heard the first caller might be from something called Legal Consortium, but I’m not sure how legit that is.

I received a call from this number, and they posed as if they were part of some official-sounding organisation, although it was patently fabricated. Got a call from someone who said they were with Action First, trying to help stop unwanted calls linked to a crash I had. They only knew the date of the accident but got almost everything else wrong, even wrongly saying it was my fault. They claimed their service was government-backed to block nuisance calls. The caller was really rude and pushy, almost like they were belittling me. Just a few days prior, I had told another really annoying caller quite sharply to leave me alone, so I reckon it might be connected to that somehow.

I even left the phone next to the telly while a film was on, and he kept talking, thinking it was me on the line.
