I'm convinced this is a total scam. Every time they ring, the final digits keep changing, so there’s no way to block them properly. This week alone, they’ve called me from 44 161 738 1970, then 1971, 1972 and even 1974. Now I just don't bother answering any calls that start with 161!

This number has been buzzing me non-stop for the last week and again today. Just like others have said, it’s the same old story. Before I ended the call, I asked if the conversation was being recorded for training or quality checks, and the lady said yes. When I questioned why she hadn’t mentioned that at the start, she said it wasn’t necessary. Then I asked for their company registration number, and she just gave me the phone number instead. When I pointed out that wasn’t what I asked for, she brushed it off saying “that info isn’t important.” No thanks, straight to BLOCK!

She just hung up straight away. Later on tonight, a woman called with the exact same story. I told her I wasn’t involved in any legal or tax issues, and said goodbye. Suddenly she snapped, telling me to be quiet and listen!!! I shouted back as loud as I could that she wasn’t the one telling ME to shut up. By the time I finished, she’d already ended the call. Completely a scam, no doubt about it.

I was having a bit of a chat when the bloke on the other end lost his temper after I mentioned how tired I am of unsolicited calls. He questioned why I’d jump to the conclusion that he might be trying to con me. So, I thought I’d turn the tables a bit and challenged him to make his pitch instead-said, “Go on, convince me!” But just like that, he cut the line. Quite amusing, really!

A caller claiming to be from ACS Legal about PPI rang me. They knew my first name and email but said they’d got my last name wrong and wanted me to confirm how it was spelled. I told them I wasn’t comfortable sharing that info. Then they tried to reassure me by offering to confirm my date of birth instead. I asked them to repeat the company’s name, and they again said ACS Legal. I told them I’d contact the company directly to check, then they agreed and ended the call. I’ve blocked the number now.

Honestly, it would be lovely if these companies or whoever it is could refrain from bombarding us with these unwanted calls!
