Someone called me from a number with a South African accent, going on about PPI and HMRC, trying to keep me on the line by dropping certain words. I noticed that similar numbers have been ringing me all month but never actually getting through, just letting it ring a few times then hanging up. Eventually, I picked up to see who it was, and after checking the number on this site today, I’ve blocked any calls that look anything like it.

Got a call from this number around 11.52am today, they were talking about a PPI refund and a cheque, said I wouldn’t need to give any bank details. After about a minute and a half listening to them, I just ended the call.

I received a phone call regarding a PPI claim they were supposedly handling. They assured me they wouldn’t require any bank information. Oddly enough, they did request my date of birth. When I asked for a contact number to return the call, they insisted I could just ring back on the number they had used to reach me. I wasn't having any of that and suggested they email me with the information instead. At that point, they abruptly hung up.

I subsequently reached out to the fraud helpline at 0300 123 2040 to report the incident. I've also received some suspicious emails which I chose to delete immediately. A word of caution to everyone-if you happen to have caller ID, it's best not to answer unfamiliar numbers, unlike me who doesn't have that feature. Stay alert for these tricksters!

Got a call from a woman speaking with a South African accent, saying she was from some solicitors firm named Harrows. She told me they were handling a claim for my dad, who’s 84 and quite hard of hearing. Apparently, it was about commission fees his bank charged on a loan and some PPI stuff. Sounded fishy to me.

It appears to be a call from a PPI recovery firm, insisting that my mother was owed additional funds from the tax deducted on her PPI refund. A couple of days back, I received a call from this chap who oddly knew my name. When I inquired about the reason for his call, he mentioned it was regarding PPI. I told him that I’ve never dealt with PPI and wasn’t remotely interested in his spiel. However, he just kept rattling on without a care in the world! Frustrated, I had to raise my voice to reiterate my lack of interest. Instead of taking the hint, he turned up the volume himself and persisted with his droning. Eventually, I lost my cool and let a few choice words slip before I slammed the phone down. What a palaver!

Got a call today, 2nd August 2023, from this number, which showed up as possible spam on my phone. I picked up anyway. The person on the line actually used my name, which was a bit odd, so I asked what the call was about. A lady with a foreign accent said it was regarding a PPI claim I supposedly made years ago. I was confused and asked for more details, but she just repeated that it was about PPI. When she asked for my address, I told her it matched hers and then hung up. I've never made any PPI claim in my life, so this is definitely a scam. Be careful with calls like this!

Got a call from some foreign bloke early morning, about 8am on my mobile. He said we’d used their service before for an accident claim, which is a total fib. Told him he was just a pesky cold caller ringing annoying early, and he got proper rude, shouting then just hanging up on me! Watch out, it’s a scam! If you get suspicious calls, text CALL to 7726 to report them. Any dodgy texts or threatening messages should be forwarded straight to 7726 too. If you receive scam emails or texts, take screenshots and send them to the UK Cyber Crime agency at '[email protected]' so they can investigate it. If you accidentally gave out your bank details, ring your bank right away, then contact the fraud police: call 101 if you're in Scotland, or 03001232040 for the rest of the UK. Just had a ring from someone named David claiming to be from MAC Legal - apparently that stands for Marketing Advisory Centre. I told him I’m constantly hassled by these timeshare refund scams, and the last thing I want is any more of these nuisance calls. Seems like they’re just a dodgy marketing outfit phoning people off outdated lists, trying to earn a bit of cash by hooking you up with some legal firm. Total waste of time.
