I got a ring from this number, and would you believe it, they were attempting to peddle a pet goldfish! The chap on the other end, a rather charming fellow named Cyril, had quite the delightful voice, husky and warm. I kindly mentioned that my pet mouse, Gonsh, was more than adequate for my needs at home. Quite the coincidence, as I was tucking into a beefburger at the time of his call. You know, I often find my local car wash to be a splendid spot to catch a game of cricket while wrapped up in a cosy woolly jumper. Quite a scene!

They rang me claiming I’d overpaid a loan from before 2011 - which is a joke because I actually bank with the same bank I work at, and if that was true, my account manager would’ve mentioned it. I told them off with plenty of swearing and made it clear to never call me again.

I thought it was dodgy but since there was no robotic voice, I stayed on the call. Turns out, they said I got a loan back in 2005 and paid too much, so they owe me cash - ha, problem is I wasn’t even old enough to get a loan then.

So they rang me and I answered acting like I’d just offed someone. I was like, “Dave, it’s all sorted. Dave, mate, I’ll ditch the body tonight and I’ve got the jewels.” They just hung up right away, proper funny haha!

Today, I’ve received calls from a bunch of individuals, not to mention another number that has rung me up five times in just 24 hours! It’s becoming a yearly ritual around this time, right after I’ve been browsing through insurers’ comparison websites. If only I could demonstrate that these insurance platforms are peddling my information, I’d be sending them a legal notice and seeking damages for all the hassle I've endured. - Caller: Just a few opportunistic PPI vultures, it seems.

this caller had the same name as me so they completely messed up their script. i could tell straight away it was a scam but was a bit curious about what they wanted. they said i’d overpaid on a loan and they could get the money back for me. i just ended the call there.

Received a rather curious phone call from this number inquiring about a certain Cam White. I informed them that they had dialled incorrectly. However, they persisted, asking when Cam might be free. I reiterated that I wasn't acquainted with anyone by that name, which seemed to set them off; they became rather belligerent, insisting that my number is somehow connected to Cam. I assured them that’s not the case at all. Quite strange, if you ask me. I really hope this isn't one of those dodgy numbers that racks up extortionate charges just for picking up! - caller: 01616695797

Earlier today, I found myself inundated with three calls from this particular number. Since I’ve only recently switched to this new number a few months back, I had absolutely no reason to pick up a call from Manchester. Thus, I let it ring. Upon digging a bit deeper into the small print of an online form, it appears this number is linked to a company named Reactive, which deals with marketing and claims. I’d advise blocking this number immediately. I trust this information proves useful!

Had a rather dubious call asserting that I was eligible for some sort of payment protection insurance. They concocted a fictitious loan story, insisting that I'd been mis-sold this insurance nonsense. Absolute balderdash if you ask me! Honestly, it’s the kind of thing that could easily trick an elderly person. The number was 01616695797, should anyone wish to avoid it.

I’ve been receiving calls from this number at least four times daily on my mobile, and it’s becoming utterly absurd. I’ve picked up before, only to find silence or the line disconnecting. Now, I’ve stopped answering altogether; I simply ignore the calls, but they keep pestering me incessantly. It’s been going on for months now, and I’m at my wit's end-something has to give! - caller: 0161 669 5797

Received a call today saying I supposedly took a loan a couple years back and apparently I'd paid too much. They asked for my bank info to sort a refund. I've never taken a loan so I just ended the call straight away once I realised it was a scam.

This number managed to call my home phone, and I haven’t the foggiest who might be on the other end. From what I’ve gathered in this thread, it seems advisable to disregard this number entirely, so that’s precisely what I plan on doing! I’ve never taken out a bank loan, nor do I have any car insurance or mishaps to speak of, so there’s really no rationale for them to be contacting me! - caller: 01616695797

This number just buzzed my home phone, and I’m completely in the dark as to who might be on the other end. After perusing a few comments here, it seems like the wisest course of action is to just steer clear of this one altogether. I'm not involved in any bank loans, haven’t taken out car insurance, and have never had a mishap, so I really don’t see why they’d be reaching out to me! - caller: 01616695797

Dealing with this firm has been utterly dreadful, especially during such a challenging time for my wife, who was diagnosed with cancer just as these incessant calls began flooding in. The name of the company? Reactive Media. They somehow managed to get hold of our home phone number and have been harassing us with an average of four or five calls each day. I found out that registering with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) can put an end to this madness; if they persist, it's recommended to file a complaint with the TPS. It won’t surprise you to hear that Reactive Media was slapped with a £50,000 fine for continuing to contact those who are already on the TPS list. While it's infuriating, the reality is these nuisance calls have made my wife cry, and it's all because of them. - Caller: Reactive Media

I received a call today from someone insisting that I am entitled to a refund for a loan overpayment dating back to before 2011. This struck me as odd since I hadn't even been residing in England at that time. When he went on to request my banking details, I sought further clarification about this so-called overpayment. To my surprise, he cut the call immediately, without a single word of explanation. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I keep getting these persistent calls from what seems to be a dubious outfit, reminiscent of that infamous Jimmy Savile era. Honestly, when they ring me up, I quite tell them to get off their backsides and find an honest living. If they don't take the hint and keep harassing me, I might just resort to sending them something rather unpleasant in the post-like a nice round doggy doo. It’s absolutely infuriating! - Caller: Supporters of unsavoury characters.

I've received four calls from this number today alone! It's definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

So they always start with "you've been in a car accident blah blah" and I’m like, when exactly? They say sometime in the past few years but can’t give me any details. So now when they call, I just say “hold on a sec,” put the phone down on my desk at work, then carry on with my day. They usually stay silent for ages before hanging up.

I've just received a call from this number and, I must admit, I was a bit gullible and shared some information with them as it appeared to relate to my financial matters. Could they be up to no good? They mentioned sending me a claims pack - the caller was 01616695797.

Received a message claiming I had missed a call from them, but my phone clearly doesn’t show any such call. So, I rang back, and the chap on the other end had the audacity to ask, ‘Is that Emma?’ - he hadn’t even got my name correct! He proceeded to pry about some supposed refund from way back in 2011. I nearly burst into fits of laughter; I was barely scraping by in 2011 and definitely wasn’t spending more than twenty quid at a go! Just then, some blaring heavy metal tunes erupted in the background, prompting me to swiftly hang up. Quite the shifty encounter, I must say!

I received a rather puzzling call on my mobile from a woman who sounded like she was in a call centre. She went on and on about some refund related to a car loan I supposedly had. To my surprise, she mentioned my postcode and requested my date of birth for verification. I couldn’t help but inquire further, as it's been seven years since I last had a car loan. When she mentioned it could be with Lloyds or HSBC, I realised she hadn’t a clue what she was on about! At that moment, I decided enough was enough and hung up.

I recently received a phone call from this number. When I picked up, a lady inquired if my name was correct, to which I confirmed it was indeed me. She mentioned she was contacting me from consumer finance regarding a potential overpayment on a loan. She proceeded to ask if I had taken out any loans prior to 2012. I replied that I had, but when she probed further about whether it was from my bank, I informed her it wasn't. Without any further ado, she abruptly thanked me and hung up. - Caller: Consumer Finance

I just received a rather dubious phone call from these folks, claiming to have a PPI refund waiting for me. They assured me that I'd see the cash in around six weeks. When I pressed for details on which bank the claim was with, the caller rattled off a list of half a dozen banks, none of which I’m affiliated with. When I suggested that their information might be a bit off, they insisted my memory must be failing me and that I had obviously forgotten. Can you believe they claimed I was entitled to a whopping £2,000? Then, they offered to connect me to another department to handle this so-called claim, but first, I had to confirm that I supposedly had £3,000 owed to me from Halifax. Honestly, what a load of nonsense! - caller: reactive

I recently received a call from this number, and a lady was going on about some supposed loan I took out with a bank-though she never named which one. She claimed that back in 2012, when I was just 18, I had financed a purchase and was supposedly owed a refund by post. Frankly, it all felt incredibly fishy, especially since the most I ever spent in that year was a mere £30. It definitely gives off scam vibes to me. - caller: 0161 669 5797

Something seems off about these folks. They called wanting to dig into my lending details from quite a while back, specifically between 2007 and 2011. I made it clear that I wasn't going to divulge such personal information to a complete stranger on the phone. I suggested they send me a letter if it was genuinely necessary. To be honest, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for any correspondence to arrive.

I received a bothersome call from a chap insisting that he required information concerning some supposed overpayment. Initially, I assumed he was on about my tax affairs, but then I recollected that cheques typically come through the post unsolicited. TIP for anyone: i always put these numbers under names like annoying call 1 ppi or annoying call 2 loans, so when they call again i know who it is, and i can decide if i wanna pick up and mess with them or just ignore. these calls are a pain and really should be outlawed, and whoever’s selling our details to them, if that even happens, should get a big fine.

I've made it quite clear that their incessant calling needs to cease, as they've acquired my details without my permission. Should they persist, I won’t hesitate to seek legal recourse. Not even ten minutes after my stern warning, another call came through, which I chose to ignore. Honestly, my phone buzzes off the hook; with two little ones to manage, I can hardly afford to entertain these irrelevant numbers. What's particularly baffling is their claim that I'm due some funds from 2001 or 2003-over a decade ago, when I was still in school! How on earth could I possibly be owed anything?

They claimed I was owed money because the bank supposedly charged me extra and said they could help recover it. Then they asked if I’d ever taken out a small loan back in "2009, 2010, or 2011." I received a phone call today (7th April 2015) from a gentleman who claimed it was regarding an overpayment connected to a specific name. I just had a call from this number while I was at work, and it popped up on my phone. Lately, I've been plagued by a string of bothersome calls from various sources. As is my wont, I decided to answer but keep schtum. After around a minute of silence on my part, I finally broke the stillness by saying "hello." They immediately asked for me by name. I thought I'd try the silent treatment again, and after a few repetitions of my name, they too went quiet. When the caller did finally respond, there was a cacophony of noise in the background, and I could distinctly hear a chap with a Manchester accent. I kept the call going for a couple of minutes, hoping to waste their time like they've wasted mine, but the line stayed eerily quiet. I even attempted to inquire who they were, but apart from initially naming me, they didn't utter another word. Quite peculiar, indeed. - caller: ?
