A chap who introduced himself as Gabriel rang me up, claiming he had a mere three questions to pose. He seemed to know my address, which was rather unsettling, and commenced by inquiring whether I was a property owner, how many children I had, and if I had any home insurance in place. I steered clear of answering any of those queries. He then muttered something unintelligible, and when I urged him to clarify, he mentioned I could expect a no-pressure call - but I hadn’t the foggiest idea what it was regarding and declined the call entirely. Oddly enough, he then requested I provide my full name and the current date. I asked him why he needed that, but he repeated his mumbling three more times. At that point, I decided it was best to hang up.

If it’s someone actually important they’ll leave a voicemail, so no need to pick up. I just let the scammers waste their time listening to the phone ring out. Imagine if everyone started doing that, they’d soon run out of people to bother. So seriously, let’s all try to ignore unknown calls and not give in to the urge to answer. Just let it keep ringing!
