I got a call from someone who spoke really bad English. He was telling me that the warranty on my washing machine was up. When I asked him which brand it was, he just guessed and ended up being wrong.

The person on the other end, who said her name was Michelle, mentioned something about a government scheme checking if folks had their wills sorted out. I made it clear I wasn't comfortable discussing personal stuff over the phone and wanted my info taken off their list. Michelle said she'd arrange that but warned me that other companies might still ring. I told her I'd handle it if that happened. Despite that, I still get a couple of missed calls every day from that number, so I've just blocked it now.
