Someone rang saying they were from a claims firm, mentioned something about new rules for PPI. They even used my name so it sounded legit at first, but then asked me to verify my info. I just politely told them I wasn’t interested and hung up.

They're purporting to be sanctioned by HMRC to reclaim any tax you might owe. They're looking for your consent, but I strongly advise against providing it. Inform them that they do not have your permission, express your intention to report the call as fraudulent and then promptly end the conversation.

They said they were with some claims company. I told them that wasn’t the name I go by and asked if they had the right person. She replied saying she couldn’t talk about any personal stuff unless I was the right individual. Then she mentioned the person they were trying to reach would know exactly what it was about. The line went silent for a bit before she just said thanks and ended the call.

Someone rang me saying they were from The Claims Guys. I got a bit wary as I’d previously received an email a while back from TheClaimGuys (spelled differently) with the exact info the caller mentioned. They did know my name, but nothing else about me came up. (The UK number showed was (0161)532 8259 and my Samsung phone warned it might be Potential Fraud).

They asked me to verify my personal info but I wouldn’t give it. Claimed I had a ppi claim, which is rubbish since I never had a loan. Then they switched it up saying it was ppi money paid to HMRC and if I gave my address, they’d send a letter about owed tax. As soon as I said I’d just spoken to my accountant, they hung up fast. Seems dodgy and like a typical scam to me.

WATCH OUT!!! DO NOT ANSWER THIS NUMBER - They called saying they were from The Claims Guys, telling me I had a PPI claim from before and that they were getting tax back from HMRC. I told them I’d looked up their number and people said it was a scam. They kept insisting I should click a link they’d text me and enter my details. I asked them to send info by post or email, but they refused and said “if you don’t want free money, that’s your choice.” I told them I never had PPI and that free money doesn’t exist, then they just hung up.

Someone rang me claiming to be from Claims Guys regarding a PPI claim I supposedly made ages ago. They said I was entitled to compensation still. Seemed legit since they knew my full name, date of birth, address, email and phone number. This morning around 09:20 I got a call from the number (016153282590). The guy said his name was Alex and claimed to be from The Claim Guys. He said they were checking on possible claims I might have, following up on some PPI claims they apparently sorted for me before. When I told him I was tied up and asked for an email with the details, he sent it right away but wanted me to open it immediately to give them permission to begin handling my claim. I said no and told him I'd review it later on.
