I got a call from John Lewis about a pricey order I made online. I jotted down the number and looked it up on Google just to make sure it was legit. Then I rang them back to verify it was really me who placed the order. I don’t usually get calls like that, so I was a bit wary initially, but everything seemed to be above board, so all good in the end.

I missed their call, so I decided to give them a ring back. When I did, I was greeted by a recorded voice guiding me through various options. It seems you can opt for a 'do not call list' by hitting 2, which I went ahead and did. Still, I've taken the precaution of blocking their number altogether.
