Got a call from a man with an Indian accent claiming he was from O2, but I don’t even use their service. He said I was eligible for a 40% discount because I’m a loyal customer, but wanted my bank info to apply it. It’s really sad thinking about older folks who might get caught by these sorts of scams.

Got a call from someone saying they were from O2, but they were actually trying to trick me into giving my security answers so they could get into my account. Total scammer move.

So I got a call from someone saying they were from 02, offering me 40% off my monthly phone bill. It just seemed a bit fishy, like it was too good to be true. Plus, they were saying I could get a free Apple Watch! That felt way too generous, like a classic scam. Definitely didn’t trust it!

Somebody rang me pretending to be from O2 and said I could get 40% knocked off my monthly phone bill. They were also offering a freebie - an Apple Watch, no less! Honestly, it all seemed a bit dodgy and way too good to be real...

Got a call from someone saying they were from PC World or maybe Curry. They were talking about a half price offer or something and then suddenly asked me which mobile network I’m on. Sounded dodgy to me, most likely a scam.

Got a call on 11/2/22 but ignored it since the number was unfamiliar. No voicemail was left either, which makes me doubt if it’s a legit business or real person. Usually, honest callers leave a message, so this one felt fishy to me.

They called saying they were from Carphone Warehouse, but honestly, they didn’t sound too convinced themselves. I just ended the call.

Strange thing is, I didn’t pick up this call because I was already talking on another phone. What’s got me curious is that just yesterday I was at Waitrose and logged onto their O2 wifi - had to give my mobile number to get online. Now, this number rings me, and I've noticed some others here mentioning telecom firms like O2 too. Could there be some connection? If that’s the case, I’m pretty disappointed - I’d have thought Waitrose would be more careful, even if they rely on O2 for their store wifi. Not 100% certain it’s linked, but it’s definitely made me raise an eyebrow.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Carphone Warehouse. They wanted to know what phone I had, which network and how much I pay monthly. I told them a Nokia on Tesco Mobile paying about £1.50. They said they could save me a fortune. I joked and asked if they sold those dodgy iPhones that turn out to be bricks, as I actually needed one to finish my garden wall. They just cut me off. Bit disappointing really.

Got a call from someone saying they were Carphone Warehouse. They started asking about my phone, which network I’m with and what my monthly bill was. I told them it’s a Nokia on Tesco Mobile and I pay about £1.50 a month. They then claimed they could help me save a lot of money. I decided to play along and asked if they sold those iPhones that come with a brick inside, cause I actually needed a brick for my garden wall. Next thing - they just hung up on me. Bit of a shame, honestly. Proper funny tho!

Strange thing, I didn’t pick up this call because I was already chatting on another line. What’s got me curious is that just yesterday I was at a Waitrose and connected to their O2 wifi, which required me to enter my phone number. Now I get a ring from this very number. Some others here have hinted at telecom firms like O2 being involved, so maybe there’s a link? If that’s the case, it’s a bit disappointing - I’d expect Waitrose to be more careful, even if they rely on O2 for their instore wifi. Can’t say for certain it’s connected, but it’s definitely made me wonder. Though, it might just be chance. I don’t think I’ve been near any public wifi spots or Waitrose myself, and yet I’ve had a call from this number too, along with a bunch of others.
