This number rings me at all sorts of times. When I finally answered, it was one of those robotic voices saying thanks for calling and telling me to email a Hotmail address to take my number off their list, but it never says the full email. Proper strange.

I had a phone call from this number just yesterday. Unfortunately, I was out of the office, so my assistant answered the line. The individual claimed to be Peter Dunn and mentioned he was calling from HMRC, urging me to return the call at my earliest convenience. However, when I attempted to return the call to the number 01615190767, it didn't connect at all. To verify, I reached out to HMRC in Manchester and had discussions with both the PAYE department and the self-assessment department. They confirmed that they had no record of any communication with me and no one by the name of Peter Dunn seemed to be associated with their office. By the way, I go by Mr Richard Swift.

This scam is seriously dangerous and preys on people who are already struggling! They’re really good at talking and tricking older folks and those who are vulnerable. A while back, when I was on antidepressants, I got a call like this. It nearly gave me a heart attack and I almost lost £4000. Thankfully, the bank team was amazing, they knew straight away it was a scam and helped me through it. They even organised a lift home since I was too shaken up to drive.

Got a call on my mobile from that number. Heard an aggressive recorded message before the line went dead. Got a call from a guy who sounded like a recorded Asian male voice, or maybe just really good at mimicking one. I told him it seemed like a scam and he got quite irritated, insisting it wasn't. Definitely best to block these calls - they're just trying to scare you into giving away info about HMRC. If you’re unsure, ring HMRC yourself.
