When we called, they said they were from a Revenue Investigations unit. They wanted our personal info but we just refused to give anything. After that, it turned into a bit of a back and forth, everyone asking for names and dodging answers, before the call finally got cut off. Definitely seems like a dodgy scam, though I worry someone less cautious might fall for it.

Yeah, I can confirm that when this number rings, it’s just a load of rubbish. The person on the other end is trying to freak you out so you hand over cash. What boggles me is, since tech is so advanced nowadays, why don’t companies like BT or whoever just block these numbers completely? Like, why isn’t there a way to disable any phone number that’s been verified as being dodgy or a scam? Makes no sense to let them keep ringing people.

I've been getting calls from this number non-stop all week. When I pick up, there’s a recorded message telling me to ring back and get a solicitor because apparently, I'm in some kind of trouble! If HMRC actually needed me, they’d write a proper letter and have someone call me directly, not this nonsense.

Just like others have said before me, I got a call from someone claiming to be Dennis Grey or something from HMRC. I had no idea we were being asked to repay government borrowing linked to Covid. Honestly, I hope this bloke Grayson (or whatever his name is) gets what he deserves for trying to scam vulnerable folks. A spell in jail sounds about right to me. If you know elderly family members, make sure they block this number. Does anyone know the number for HMRC’s fraud department?

I got a call today from an automated woman saying she was Officer Hammond from the tax office. She told me to ring their department straight away. If I didn’t, she warned a legal team would be contacting me soon. Totally sounded dodgy to me.
