Got a call from this number, it was some automated voice saying if I didn’t hit 1 right away, the police from HMRC would come arrest me! I couldn’t stop laughing after that.

Got a call on our home phone, it showed up as from abroad but it was really a Manchester number. A woman asked for my missus, said something like 'Opinions UK' and wanted to do a quick 3 or 4 question survey. We’ve had this kind of call off and on, so I told her no thanks. She hung up straight away, thankfully! No idea what kind of scam it might’ve turned into this time. Looks like this number’s popped back up again after a couple years, judging by how many people are searching it - probably from a boiler-room.

Some bloke with a Mancunian accent rang me up, knew my name and said “we're aware you already got life insurance and this ain't about that.” Problem is, I don’t even have life insurance, so I told him he’s got the wrong person. He kept insisting “nah, I don’t,” but I’d already ended the call by then.

The caller was looking for Mr Marshall, who hasn't lived here in over 20 years! Told them I’m not him and the chap with a Manchester accent just said "no worries" and ended the call. Could hear what sounded like a call centre in the background.

Got a call from 0161 505 0574, a woman claiming there were grants for "property improvements". She asked a bunch of questions and when I kept pressing to know who was backing the grants and if it was government money, she finally said it was privately funded. That's when I ended the call sharpish. Definitely just a sales trick to get you to pay way too much for sketchy work. Best to just hang up if they call you.

They keep ringing non stop. When I picked up, I could hear a busy call centre in the background but the person just dropped the call straight away without saying anything. They're ringing me more than 4 times a day and I checked with the TPS. They told me they can't stop these calls! Said I’d have to contact the caller myself to get my number removed from their list. Honestly, the TPS isn’t any help at all!

Got a call on our home phone from these muppets today, and like always, they hung up as soon as the answerphone picked up. The number probably isn’t even from Manchester, likely just a fake Caller ID. These con artists have their gear dial loads of numbers at once, so I changed our answerphone to pick up after just two rings. Hopefully, that’ll piss them off since ours is usually the first to answer in the bunch!
