SCAM WARNING - I got a robo call claiming to be HMRC, threatening arrest and insisting I needed a solicitor. It’s horrible how these scumbags try to frighten people like that, especially those who might be easily worried. Whatever you do, don’t pick up or ring back. If by chance you do and that creep talks to you, tell them to go through the right channels and send a letter like the real HMRC would. Never give out your address - remind them if they have your number, they can get your details properly. Then tell them to sling their hook!

My partner got a call from someone named Adam claiming there were three tax issues with the Inland Revenue. It really seemed like a scam to me, though I can't figure how they gain from it unless the number he calls back is expensive. I reckon they'll attempt to contact him again soon.

This was a total scam! They acted like they were from HMRC and kept saying either me or my lawyer had to ring them back or we'd be in big trouble. Honestly, don't bother calling them back, it’ll probably end up costing you loads. I’ve blocked the number now!

After that, his attitude changed and he sounded really rude and a bit threatening. I can imagine that would frighten someone who’s more vulnerable than me.

I got a call from 0161 4703122 claiming to be from HMRC, which really freaked me out. They said I hadn’t made my payment and asked for details like the amount, my bank, and when I paid. Then the caller told me the money would be refunded within 48 hours and that I should send the payment again. They even said the police had been notified and would come to arrest me at 3pm if I didn’t pay up. That’s when I figured it was a scam and they suddenly hung up. I almost fell for it since I was a bit late with my payment just two days earlier, but thankfully I caught on in time.
