11 yearsWe’re not the ones making these calls - this number is from a private residence. The calls you’re receiving seem to come from an overseas call centre outside the UK, trying to get info about electricity and such. The odd thing is, the original number they use is 001614372376, but UK systems often strip the leading zero, so our actual number appears on Caller ID or when you check 1471. It looks like the calls might be routed through the internet and then switched onto UK landlines, which can change the Caller ID, and honestly, that feels like a scam. We’ve reported this to BT, OpenReach, the ICO, the TPS, DMA and Watchdog, but no fix yet. Unless you actually know who you’re calling at this number, please don’t phone back and try to block it on your device if you can. We’ve had over a hundred calls in recent days because of these scammers, who might be from India or Africa - that’s what others who’ve answered have said. Sorry for any hassle this causes you, but we’re not behind it. Please let your phone service provider know about this issue, and don’t pick up calls from 00161… since the people calling have been quite rude and aggressive. - Possible direct marketing related to electricity, gas or finance.UKBTOpenReachICOTPSDMAWatchdogIndiaAfrica11 yearsJust got a call from a bloke with a thick accent claiming to be from Home Energy, saying something about a survey. He didn't sound very clear if he was trying to sell me something or just asking questions. Honestly, I don't mind them having my number much anymore - I’ve had enough dodging calls. My phone’s set to divert unknown, blocked or no ID calls straight to voicemail. If they don’t show their number, they can leave a message if they want. Sometimes it's kinda fun messing with them though, making them repeat everything over and over just for a laugh. No way I'd hand over any personal info to some random stranger on the phone like that. I honestly can’t figure out how some people still fall for these scams. - caller: Home EnergyHome EnergySubmit Your Own Report (0161 437 2376)
