I got an email supposedly from Karen Wilson ([email protected]) saying their accounts team noticed we’d been overpaid £2,370. They told me to pause the order until we sorted it out on our end, and once they confirm the refund is received, they’d ok the shipment. The email claimed it was from Karen Wilson at Display Compass Limited, with an address in Manchester and a phone number: 01614371439. The trick is, the supposed payment came via cheque showing in your account. They then ask you to refund the extra amount into their bank account and send out the goods. But a few days later, the cheque bounces, and your bank takes the money back from you! Luckily, I trusted my gut and rang my bank manager because something felt off.
