I had a rather perplexing encounter with someone from an Asian background who was jabbering on about their mobile. When I mentioned I couldn’t quite grasp what they were saying and requested that they repeat themselves a bit more slowly, they abruptly hung up on me. Quite clearly, it was a scam!

Without a doubt, this is a dodgy operation. I repeatedly informed them that I had no interest, having just upgraded myself, and requested that they remove my details from their records. Yet, they incessantly pressed for justification and attempted to entice me into another upgrade. Frustrated, I eventually snapped and exclaimed, "just remove me from your system, will you?" To which they retorted with a rather unprofessional, "oh, just bugger off." I urge everyone: steer clear and don’t divulge any personal information!

I received a call from someone purporting to be with Carphone Warehouse, claiming they could provide me with a complimentary phone upgrade, with no initial payment required, while allowing me to keep my current number and network. When I mentioned that I was still bound by my contract, they reassured me that it wouldn’t affect my existing agreement. However, it’s abundantly clear this is a ruse. As a professional in telesales myself, I found it particularly dubious that they couldn’t send me any email or even needed to discuss matters with the primary account holder-an obvious breach of GDPR! To top it all off, they abruptly hung up when I declined their offer, without even the courtesy of a proper farewell, which is a big no-no in telesales etiquette. I’m nearly 100% certain this is a scam. Keep your wits about you and be savvy with your phone interactions!
