I got a call from someone called Abbie at EMS who asked for me by name. She thanked me for supposedly agreeing to help with anti-bullying and knife crime books for schools and then asked where I wanted the books sent. Problem is, I’ve never spoken to them or agreed to anything like that before. Sounded like a total scam to me, and I told her exactly that.

Got a call at my work from a woman who said we’d chatted in February about some kind of anti-bullying and safety drive. She told me I could pick a nearby school to receive free books. I told her I didn’t remember any of that and asked why my business was involved in this project anyway. She insisted I’d agreed to pay £189 to sponsor it, and apparently I could get the money back through my company. Sounds like a total con to me!

I recall turning down this campaign before, thinking it was dodgy. Then, out of the blue, I got another call promising to send me a certificate as a thank-you, along with a book. But as soon as I asked for proof that I had agreed, especially when they brought up paying, they just hung up. The company was called something like EMF, if I remember right.
