Got a call from someone with a funny accent saying I’d had a car crash. I asked how he even knew that, whether it was my insurance firm. He said he got it from the police’s national accident database. Told him that doesn’t exist. He insisted it did, then just put the phone down. Proper scammer.

I just left it ringing without picking up or hanging up. They seem to buzz loads of numbers, and if no one picks up, they think it’s not a real one. Best thing to do is not answer at all, don’t even try to decline, just block them and report it.
