I just got a call asking if I’d ever done car finance in the past 10 years, I said no. Then she asked if anyone in my family or friends had done it. Looks like this number uses all sorts of questions to catch people out. Definitely a SCAM.

Got called 3 times today, only answered the last one to ask what they wanted. When I said I never had PPI, she kept on telling me to listen - that’s when I just snapped and told her to ‘get lost’ in a rude way. Maybe we should start picking up with whistles again like back in the 80s!

Had the exact same thing happen to me - got a voicemail from someone called Heather Grey claiming to be from HMRC, saying me or my solicitor needs to get in touch as it’s about a serious issue. Thing is, I am actually a solicitor and deal with HMRC pretty regularly, so instantly knew it was dodgy. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent asking if I had a lawyer and saying I owed HMRC £4000, then asked if I could pay it. They somehow already knew my name and address. 28/06/2016 about 9.30 in the morning, got a second call from this number. I actually heard more of the voicemail this time - it was the same boring woman’s voice from yesterday telling me, or my solicitor, to ring the HMRC number she gave, right after the call ended or else there’d be serious trouble. Totally looks like a scam - I’m an 80 year old and quite sharp but can imagine younger folks getting really stressed over this. Caller said her name was Heather something.

Just got a call from these lot. The person spoke in a thick American accent claiming to be from HMRC, and right away said I needed to get a lawyer. I hung up straight away. What’s the point of this scam if it’s not to frighten older people? My dad is quite old and, like lots of people his age, really trusts others and could easily fall for this rubbish. I keep warning him not to answer calls with automated messages. Fingers crossed he takes my advice.

Got a call from this number today 27/06/2016 around 4.15pm. I answered cause I do know people with a Manchester area code. A really harsh deep voice, kinda like the character Doom on a tape, said it was HMRC calling and that I should immediately get in touch with a solicitor once I finished the call - didn’t hang about to listen any longer and just ended the call straight away.

Got another call from Heather grey and this time her mate was threatening me sayin my bank accounts, credit cards and even my house could get frozen and i'd be locked up for as long as 5 years. Yeah, some Heather Grey with an American accent called me saying it was urgent and I needed to have a lawyer or some kind of record ready. The message was hard to follow and the number looked dodgy, but now I see what’s really going on from the comments above. Today, my mum received a couple of calls from this number. The caller insisted she shouldn’t brush it off and repeated a callback number twice! They even suggested she ought to find a solicitor, claiming they were preparing to seize her car! It’s quite amusing considering she’s never even driven! Good luck to them trying to take her vehicle!

Had a call from 0161 354 9847, voice said it was officer Carol Graham leaving a message for me to tell my lawyer not to touch my car or HMRC would step in. Couple of days ago my mate got the same call, but he answered back saying he was a lawyer and all calls are recorded. The person just hung up straight away. Be careful everyone, these are dodgy!

I recently received a rather alarming call from this number. In hindsight, I regret returning the call. The individual on the line had an American accent and claimed that the police would be arriving at my doorstep in an hour to assist me, as I supposedly owe them £2900 in taxes. He then suggested that I could avoid any trouble by simply paying £500 right away. It's quite concerning, to say the least!
