I got a call from a guy called Eric Foster who sounded Asian. He left a message saying I needed to ring back because HMRC were investigating me for tax fraud. He even gave me a work reference number straight away, which felt off to me. He said he’d ring me again in about an hour and a half. I looked up his details right away and realised it was a total scam. If it had been someone older or more vulnerable, they might’ve given away their bank info without a second thought. When I called back, another man with an Asian accent answered and promised to get Eric to ring me again. I told him I knew it was a scam and he just hung up. Eric never called back after that! Honestly, just don’t engage with Eric Foster at all, hang up immediately. Make sure your friends and family know about this too - it was really irritating to deal with, but could cause real harm to someone less cautious.

Just got a voicemail from some number saying I should ring back on 2821788333. Bit odd coz if it was really about some big fraud thing they had on me, surely they’d have my name? The message said it was from HMRC and some bloke called Eric Foster. Gotta say, seems a bit dodgy. You’d think by now they'd stop using the same fake name!

This number 01613547110 left me a couple of automated calls telling me to get in touch straight away because there’s some serious legal action against me. I never answered or called back, instead I reported it to the fraud squad at the City of London police. They rang once more on Friday but didn’t leave any voicemail. After looking it up, it seems this number belongs to a service that sends out calls on behalf of others.

Got a call about a week back from a number close by. The guy said he was Eric Foster from HMRC claiming my mum owed a fine of £3998. He even warned her that the cops would be banging on our door in half an hour. Surely there’s a way to trace this number and maybe a bunch of us could meet up to sort this out directly with these scammers. This sort of thing really shouldn’t be allowed to keep happening.

My elderly parents got a voicemail about some court case, which was really stressful especially because my brother was seriously ill then. My dad called back, all worried and confused, only to be shouted at and threatened by the bloke on the other end who even knew dad's name. When dad said he was gonna contact the police, the call got cut off straight away. Chatted to a copper about it - looks like a scam that could end up costing you on your phone bill. Best to report it to 101 and make sure you get a crime reference number.

Got a voicemail from 0800 953 9090 saying I needed to ring 1613 547 110, but then they repeated a different number, 1613 549 940 - couldn’t even keep it straight. They claimed I was part of a legal case with HMRC, which honestly gave me a bit of a scare at first. But when the so-called HMRC rep ended with ‘goodbye and have a blessed day,’ I couldn’t help but chuckle.

A few days back I tried reporting this, but when I called them and asked about the number, the line just got cut off. I called again afterwards and only then realised it was a scam. What’s worrying me the most is if this was some sort of premium rate call, 'cause if so, my phone bill might end up crazy expensive. Anyone else had this happen?

A bloke called himself Jonathon Harvey and used the number above (loads of J H’s in Hull, so who knows). He claimed I owed HMRC £3487 from years back and said if I didn't sort it out, I'd end up in court or even jail. He told me he wasn’t taking details on the phone but if I agreed, he’d check with his boss and told me to stay on the line. I had a feeling it was dodgy but was curious and hung up. Then he rang back and I just thought - total scam. I've seen lots of reports about these HMRC scam calls lately, mostly aimed at older women in SW London who are easier to scare. It’s proper worrying.

Got a voicemail warning about some legal action, said it was urgent and to call straight away. I've come across these scams several times and usually ignore them, but I can see how they’d really worry someone who’s not fully clear-headed. It’s just awful that these calls keep going and nothing’s been done to block them yet.

Just last week, my mum lost her husband and now she’s been harassed by some bloke claiming to be from HMRC, threatening her with court action. She’s 87 and was left really shaken up by the call. When I phoned the number on my first try, the guy on the other end, who had an accent, hung up as soon as I started asking questions. I’ve rung back three times since, always the same man answers. I asked to speak to a manager, but it was obviously the same person again, and he just hung up when I pressed him. It’s so terrible how they’re doing this, they should be stopped immediately.

This number rang my mum on her landline, and she got really upset. She's 86, has some health issues, and they claimed to be from HMRC saying she had to call them back or they'd take legal steps against her. It's horrible that someone would try to frighten an elderly lady like that.

Didn't bother calling the number, but after checking other reviews, it's clearly a scam. I'm already off work sick from stress and definitely don't need stupid, rubbish messages like these adding to it.

Got a message just now supposedly from HMRC and customs, saying there’s a serious legal case against this number but no one named it. They said if I didn’t respond, there’d be big trouble. They ended it with “Have a blessed day”. Bit of a red flag, thought it felt too fishy to be real.

HMRC won't ever call you about a tax refund, ask you to confirm your bank or card details, or demand payment over the phone. They also don’t phone without confirming who they are first, nor do they leave messages threatening court action on your answer machine. If you get suspicious calls, please report them to the police via their online site www.actionfraud.police.uk or ring 0300 123 2040, available 24/7. If you’ve shared any banking info, contact your bank or card provider straight away. For more advice, visit www.gov.uk/dealing-with-hmrc.

Earlier today, May 9th around 11:15 am, this number rang me up. I picked up and got a scary automated voice from someone named 'Lisa' warning me that if I didn’t ring back, I’d face court action, fines, and have to cover costs. Foolishly, I phoned back and a bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be 'Officer Mike Wilson' answered. He said the call had to do with my taxes and called it my ‘Final Notice’. I didn't pick up, but I'm pretty sure it's from abroad since I usually ignore calls like these. That might explain why they’re bold enough to leave such scary messages.

Genuine HMRC wouldn’t leave a threatening message like that, they’d send a letter if there was an issue. The woman on the line said she was my HMRC officer called Lisa - which is suspicious enough. Plus, she ended with “have a blessed day” - total giveaway. Best thing is to report these scammers to Ofcom, they’re the ones who can actually clamp down on this rubbish. Whatever you do, don’t ring them back.

So this number rang me twice today, but one of the calls just said “call 1613459940” (lots of others mentioning this number here too). What baffles me is why nobody seems to be able to find out who’s behind these calls. It’s like they’re deliberately trying to intimidate people - and surely in any decent society you can’t just get away with threatening folks without anyone doing something about it. Properly annoying!

Do NOT answer this number. It really frightened my grandparents, who are both in their late 80s. Definitely a scam. Luckily they ignored it, no telling what might have happened otherwise.

Got a call supposedly from HMRC threatening a lawsuit against me. It was an automated message telling me to ring them back on that number. Total scam, for sure! Had a very similar call before asking me to dial 01613549940. Didn't answer either time.

Just got a call earlier from this number where they claimed to be from HMRC. These scammers really need to be put to an end. Is there somewhere we can report this kind of thing?

Received a call warning me about a lawsuit if I didn’t return their call. It was really scary. I’m 82 and still shaken up from the whole thing.

Got a call from Lisa Williams at this number claiming there’s some big lawsuit against us, she left a message asking to call back to dodge trouble. Proper stressful call!

Got a voicemail saying it was urgent and to call officer Lisa about serious criminal charges. When I rang back, a bloke called Richard Harper claimed to be from HMRC and said he needed to talk to my husband about tax evasion. Total scam, don’t pick up if you get a call from 01613547110 or if it shows up as an international number.

0161 354 7110 called my 82 yr old mum leaving a message in some weird robotic voice, saying they were from HMRC and threatening legal trouble if she didn't call them back straight away. Total SCAM. The number looked like it was from Manchester but wasn’t recognised anywhere. HMRC would never get in touch like this. It’s just like that American IRS scam that was going around a few months ago, maybe the same lot doing it here. My mum was really shaken up. Honestly, these people are the worst in my view.

Got a voicemail pretending to be from HMRC saying there’s a big lawsuit against me, no proper name given, just someone called Officer Lisa. Bless her heart. My elderly grandma got really upset after hearing it and actually called back, which she shouldn’t have done. Now we just have to wait and see if that’s going to cause any problems.

I got a call from this number and they played a robotic-sounding message telling me I was in big trouble with the tax office, that I'd face severe legal action, and that it was my final warning to ring them back. Seems like a scam to me, trying to get folks to call a pricey number or pick up when they ring back so they can scam money out of you.

I got two calls claiming my mum was involved in some major legal issue with HMRC, which really scared her. We ended up reporting it to Action Fraud, and honestly, I’d recommend anyone in a similar spot to do the same. Their number is 0300 123 2040.

This number keeps ringing my mum and leaving scary voicemails saying they're from HMRC. I've been telling her it's just a scam, but she’s really stressed out about it. It’s awful how these scammers prey on people who are easy targets. Makes me so angry - they really need to be put an end to!

Got the exact same scam call. The guy said his name was Richard Harper and gave some ID number, 21289 I think, said it was about tax evasion or something like that.

Got a call from this number too and the person on the other end was super impolite. I reckon this should be reported because there are lots of elderly and vulnerable folks who might get tricked. Don’t be fooled, it’s definitely a scam!

Just like everyone else, they rang my 86 year old mum. She saw through it was a scam but it still left her feeling all shaken and worried for most of the day. She’s feeling a bit better now that she knows her elderly pals got the same call.

Me? Facing a big lawsuit? Sounds exactly like the kind of nonsense that HMRC warns us about. Whoever these muppets are, track them down and make sure they end up behind bars, where they deserve to be!

I just got a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC warning me about a major legal issue. I ended the call halfway through. At first, I thought it was a reminder about my self assessment tax deadline, but then it hit me that it was fake. Definitely a scam, and I really hope no one falls for it.

This number called me at 8.31 in the morning today, 5th August 2017, and played a recorded message claiming to be HMRC. They said there was a serious legal case against me and if I didn’t ring back, I'd face big fines. It's clearly a scam but I can imagine how scary this could be for older folks or anyone who’s vulnerable!!!

Got a call saying there’s a big lawsuit against me. If I don’t ring back, I’m told I’ll face major legal trouble. They keep saying this is my final chance to “sort out” this huge issue. They mentioned something about HMRC but never gave any proper info, just threatening stuff. Feels fishy to me.

This number 1613547110 rang me saying I had done something bad and had to call them right away. I'm only 13 so I was really confused, especially when they mentioned my mum. I called back straight away but nobody answered. Seems like a proper dodgy scam to me, if anyone’s bothered about it, they probably should be but honestly, it’s just a load of rubbish.
