Got a call today from a recorded female voice with an Indian accent, saying not to ignore the number she gave or there’d be consequences straight away. Said she was from the Inland Revenue but I couldn’t trace the call properly. Didn’t answer or reply, now I’m hearing it’s a scam trying to steal personal info. The number she called from was 01613547076.

Got a recorded call with an electronic voice saying it was from HMRC, told me to ring them back urgently about a “time sensitive” issue, and even threatened legal trouble. I really wanna find out who or where to report these scammers because they’re just criminals. Someone might actually believe this rubbish and end up getting scammed or robbed.

0161 354 7088 - Total scam alert. Got a call from a woman trying to sound all posh, said her name was Heather Grey and claimed she was from HMRC. My elderly mum was really scared when she said if we didn't pay £1999, she'd get arrested, even dragged my dad in who's stuck in bed. I rang them back today and the bloke on the line started swearing at me when I said I'd reported them to the police. Honestly, we need to warn folks on social media so more vulnerable people don’t fall for this rubbish before it’s too late.

Got a message from these lot today and naively called them back. They said I owed nearly £2000 tax from returns between 2011 and 2014. I rang HMRC straight away and reported it to Action Fraud. They tried to scare me saying they'd freeze my bank accounts, take my driving licence and passport if I didn’t pay in 45 minutes, even threatened my home. Ended up having a proper argument once I twigged it was all a scam.

Got a call today at 10:49 from Heather Gray at HM Revenue and Customs, came from 0161 354 7088 but showed as 1613547088 too - looks like they’re using loads of different numbers for these automated calls (had another from 02131297795 earlier). The recorded message said I or my lawyer needs to call back urgently cos it’s really time critical. They warned not to ignore it or else they’d take action. Feels like a total scam to me, so I’m just ignoring it despite the creepy robotic voice.

On Saturday morning, I got a message on our answerphone from a woman, sounded like she might be of Indian background, saying she was from HMRC. She told us we owed money to the tax office and that in 45 minutes a warrant would be issued for our arrest if we didn’t call back. She also claimed they had tried calling since Monday (which wasn’t true) and had sent us a letter (also untrue). She said they’d be freezing our assets - house, cars, bank accounts, the lot. We contacted the local police who told us to just ignore it and not give them any details apart from our names.

Phoned an elderly woman in her seventies saying she owed a big amount in retirement tax and if she didn't pay up today (Saturday) the police would nick her and she could be sent to jail for 5 years. She was really upset and I was lucky to get there when I did, otherwise she might have actually paid. They picked up when I rang back pretending to be hmre but as soon as I asked if they were the UK government, they just hung up. The woman’s voice sounded Indian by the accent, really disgusting attempt to scam someone. This has been reported to the police.
