They said they were from the National Accident Database. Loads of accident management firms mention the NAD to dodge questions about where they got your info, but actually, there’s no official body by that name. It’s just a Limited company making money by using the shady tricks the older accident management companies used.

I was on my mobile when this number popped up, at the same time my landline went off just moments after! They didn’t leave a voicemail tho. When I looked it up, it’s the same number that called my mobile! Strange!

Got a call supposedly from Heather Gray saying I need to ring HMRC straight away, or there'll be trouble. The number on my caller ID matched what 1471 showed. It’s really worrying, especially for older folks who aren’t on computers much and might fall for this nonsense. Can’t the fraud team track these scammers down? Why doesn’t the TPS block this kind of thing? I’ve had 5 calls in just 2 days. The first couple came from a 0120 number, but the message and voice were identical every time.

Got a recorded call from someone pretending to be Heather Grey from HM Revenue, left a message for my elderly mum who’s 73. The message was so unclear she was really puzzled and didn’t even notice it wasn’t a genuine voice. Told her straight away to hang up if she gets any more calls like that. It’s really distressing for older folks, and the scary part is mum only didn’t ring back because they didn’t say her name. If they had, she’d likely have answered. It’s quite worrying.

Today I got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC. It was an automated voice asking me to ring 0161 3547063, said her name was Hannah Grey and it was urgent. They also told me to get my lawyer to get in touch with them. I’m no fool and usually know to ignore this kind of rubbish, but I’m reporting this to the Police. I’m 72 and seriously disabled, so this kind of thing could really scare someone like me badly. Please be aware, it looks like they’re now going after people in Cheshire!!

I found two automated voicemails on my landline which both said I must urgently get in touch with HMRC, the supposed contact being Heather Grey. After reading through this site I haven’t called back. What really put me off was them finishing with “Take care” - seemed too casual for such a serious message! I looked on HMRC’s official site but couldn’t see any warning about this scam, which they really ought to have if people are reporting it. I’ll attempt to email them instead, as I’m not waiting ages on hold like usual when phoning HMRC!

My wife got really stressed out today after this number called her, thinking I was in some kinda trouble with the tax office. It's really not on. I'm gonna report this number to the fraud squad first thing tomorrow. You'd think the authorities would step up and handle this by now.

Today, someone called as 'Heather Grey' rang my 87 year old mother in law and absolutely terrified her, insisting she owed £4,000 in back taxes and warning her that the police were on their way. I called the number back myself and ended up speaking to a polite foreign-sounding 'HMRC agent' who refused to give his name, and as soon as I pressed him on it, he just hung up! Lovely chap! My mother in law has now reported everything to the Police Fraud Unit, who already knew about this scam. She’s still quite shaken up but fingers crossed she’ll recover in a few weeks.

Didn’t recognise the number, so I let it go to voicemail. The message sounded really threatening and the voice was slow and hard to understand, mentioned something about inland revenue and customs, and a person called Heather Grey. They said to call back or have our legal rep get in touch. These sorts of calls need to be stopped and these scammers caught.

Got a call from a woman saying she was with HMRC, telling me to listen and threatening me with prison and all that. She said if I wasn’t taking her seriously I’d better get my solicitor to call her right away because it was urgent. Ended up hanging up on her. The message was quite scary and really hard to understand, some slow mumbling about the inland revenue and customs, with a name Heather Grey thrown in. They said we should call back or have our lawyer ring them. These sorts of calls should be shut down and the people behind them caught.

They phoned me and I called back since I was waiting on a call from HMRC. I was shocked by what the guy was saying even though I knew it was rubbish. I told him he must think I’m daft but he kept going on about me getting arrested, having all my money taken and being deported. Deport where exactly, I wondered lol. Like others have said, the call sounded threatening and the lady’s voice was pretty hard to understand. It’s extremely unlikely any government office would ring on a Saturday. I’m also signed up with the TPS, but it doesn’t stop these scammers from using UK numbers, even if they’re calling from abroad.

Twice I've had these weird voicemail clips from what sounded like HMRC, but the voice was this odd, robotic foreign one telling me to ring back or get a lawyer involved, warning me not to just ignore it, which felt pretty intimidating, then it ended with 'take care'. I called the number back and managed to talk to someone, though it was hard to catch what they were saying. They wanted to talk to my wife about some tax debt from 2014. My wife said she never paid income tax, then handed me the phone as she was getting quite upset. I asked the person to give me a proper explanation about this "debt" but they just cut the call. This has all the signs of a nasty scam, so watch out and don't get tricked.
