Not sure who it was, but judging by what others have said, looks like a scam so I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Got a call from some bloke with a weird accent claiming he was Microsoft and that I had to fix up my computer settings. Said he’d guide me through the whole thing. I told him straight up he was a bit of a eejit and I wasn’t interested. Oddly enough, he ended the call right after! So yeah, looks like I guessed right - he was a total wally.

I had a call from someone claiming to be from India saying they could stop all the telemarketing calls starting tomorrow if I gave them my bank details. I wasn’t having any of it and told them to stop bothering me - probably a bit more blunt than I usually am. I'm on the TPS list, but honestly, it feels like it doesn't do much to actually block these annoying calls.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent who said his name was Pete. He claimed to be from the company that handles blocking unwanted calls on my phone. But as soon as I asked which company he was from, he just cut the call. Quite dodgy if you ask me.

They claimed to be from the phone preference service, which I signed up for ages ago, yet I still get bombarded with these calls! At first, I played along when they recited my address back to me, but I cut them off sharp when they brought up a credit card supposedly on file!

I’ve been getting calls from this number before, always silent. Pretty sure it’s some kind of scam.

Kept getting calls with no one speaking, definitely not a legit number.

Got a call claiming to be from BT saying they were improving my protection against spam and marketing calls. Since my BT contract was about to expire, I had a chat but got a bit wary when they asked for my date of birth and the first dozen digits of my debit card. I told them I was unsure, and then I got passed to another person who kept calling me “love” the entire time! I ended up giving made-up info for both the DOB and card number, and they didn’t seem to notice. Next, they asked for my credit card info, but when I said I don’t have one and never use it, they just dropped the call. Tried ringing back but no luck connecting.

Just like the comment from 20th June, the third one down, I told them if they rang back, I’d have my daughter chat to them. She’s actually a Detective Superintendent with the Police and works in Fraud (or so I said). Of course, they hung up straight away! Funny thing is, she’s not really involved in Fraud, but hey, a small fib never hurt anyone, especially at 76!

This number has rung me repeatedly, about four times just this week, claiming to be from the telephone preference service and saying they’re updating their records. They even asked for my bank card info, which I obviously didn’t give. It’s quite funny, really - the very folks meant to block nuisance calls turning out to be one themselves!

Got a call from some scammer claiming to offer a blocking service. They asked for my credit card info, which was a big red flag.

Got a call claiming to be from a scam blocking service but they ended up asking for my credit card info. Definitely dodgy.

Got a call from a woman claiming she could help block nuisance calls. I told her she was actually an example of one and mentioned I’m already on the TPS, so legit firms wouldn’t be ringing me up. I asked her to tell me more about what she offered, but she got all flustered, stopped following her spiel, and just hung up.

Got a call from someone overseas using an English name. They started asking for personal info, saying it was to help keep the call blocked. I ended the call as soon as they wanted my address. Definitely a scam.

Got a call but nobody said a word when I picked up. Totally silent on the other end.

This number called me loads of times, mostly robocalls and spammy scams. It’s been really annoying.

As soon as I answered, they just ended the call straight away. I get loads of these annoying calls, even though I’m supposedly on the do-not-call list. I’ve even paid for services to block them, but it’s been a complete waste of both time and cash.

I got a phone call from a bloke named James, who claimed he was ringing from some kind of call blocking outfit. He asked if I was still getting loads of annoying calls. I told him I was actually on the phone with one at that moment and mentioned I’d note his number down to report it. Then he just hung up on me.

Got two calls from 0161 354 0994 within just 15 mins. There was a long pause with some weird background noise before the first person claimed she was calling from Microsoft about my PC. I told her I wasn’t interested and asked to be taken off their list. She hung up on me straight away. Then about 10 minutes later, they rang again, and as soon as I said hello, they just cut the call without saying a word. Total pain in the neck!

I picked up this number today, and a woman just said "bye" then hung up straight away. I don’t like using 1571 much either since it blocks calls from numbers that don’t show up, and I’ve ended up missing a bunch of important calls from the nearby hospital because of that.

Got a call from "Talk Talk" for the 20th time now! The number they used is definitely one to stay clear of. From what I know, Talk Talk usually only contacts their customers through letters, not phone calls. So if you get a ring from them, be cautious!

This afternoon, I got a call from a woman claiming to be Jennifer from TalkTalk. She said my computer was full of viruses and slowing down. She told me to check out this site logyou.net and to run a programme named supermo.exe. Then she wanted me to go on teamviewer.com and hand over remote access to her. It all felt dodgy, especially when I asked for her details. She said she was Jennifer Williams, gave an email [email protected] and a phone number 01613540994, saying it was local to London. I told her I needed to verify with TalkTalk first and would call back, but she hung up right away. Definitely a scam.

Got a ring from this number claiming to be from TalkTalk about an issue with my internet. They asked me to get on my laptop and do what they said but I didn't fall for it and said no thanks. Honestly, these scam calls pretending to be TalkTalk are getting really annoying. Just be careful and don't get caught out.
