I always figured the TPS was meant to block this sort of thing - does the rule just cover landlines or what?

I've seen this number pop up loads and usually just let it ring. Decided to pick up this time to tell them off, but they said it was EE with some deal that’s 500 minutes and texts, on any network or whatever. Then they started asking for my bank info. Honestly, steer clear of that number, it’s dodgy as anything!!!

This number keeps ringing me up, but I never pick up. Usually, it calls like twice a week.

This number rings me up pretty much daily but I always ignore it. No idea how they even got my details since I’ve never given it out. Saw some comments saying it’s linked to EE, but if that’s true, why isn’t anything being done to stop it? Feels like it just keeps going on.

This number just rang me but I chose not to pick up and honestly, I won’t be answering if they call again...........

Got a call from someone saying they were with EE, but it was just the typical telemarketer rubbish. Wouldn’t trust them at all. Tried blocking one of their 0161 numbers on my phone, but they keep ringing from different ones. Best to steer clear and add them to your phone's blacklist if you can.

I usually keep my mobile number to myself since I’m on a pay-as-you-go plan. Mostly I just text, hardly get any calls at all, so I often miss them because I can never seem to locate my phone. This morning at 8:33, the phone rang again. It’s pretty common for me to get calls like twice a week. When it went off today, it made me a bit worried because I was in bed looking after a poorly family member and thought it might’ve been something urgent.

This number has rung me loads but I always let it go to voicemail. Got curious one day and looked it up online, and now there's no way I'll pick up if it rings again.

They’ve rung me a few times at the most ridiculous hours. The first time, some bloke told me they could hook me up with unlimited texts and 500 minutes, but I’m on a student tariff that already includes more than that. I said I had a better deal and if they were really EE, they’d know that. So, I ended the call and just started ignoring them. Then, just a few minutes ago, they called again. I was curious, so I answered. This time a guy, sounding like he was from EE, tried the same line about a better deal. (Not trying to be rude here) but people from EE call centres usually have a foreign accent, and this guy had spot-on English accent. I got annoyed and told him to stop because I knew it was a scam. We both got a bit heated and I hung up. As soon as I put my phone down, the same number called again. So I just left it ringing. Honestly, EE wouldn’t call back a customer who was clearly annoyed. If you get calls from them, just ignore it - don’t waste your time.

STAY WELL AWAY, SERIOUSLY!!!
Got a call from this number pretending to be EE, trying to push a "better deal" onto me. When I said no, the person on the line got pretty rude. I doubt EE would use a landline for sales calls - they normally ring from a 450 number. Reading others' experiences, I'm glad I hung up quickly. This smells like a scam trying to get your card info.
Not sure if they nabbed info from EE’s system, but if EE is aware, why aren’t they cracking down on this???

On the 16th of June at 18:08 this number called me, and also on the 12th of June around 5:33pm, but they didn’t leave any voicemail either time.

Had a call earlier today and it was really frustrating, especially since these calls can sometimes cost you. Luckily, I decided to check the number before returning the call, which led me to this website. Honestly, finding this site probably saved me some cash!

I tried calling the number back and got this weird call centre setup. First, there was a message about the call being important and how I’d be passed onto the next free agent. Then, straight away, I was greeted with "Good afternoon, you’re speaking with SLM Connect, how can I assist?" I rang that number like 10 times in a row, hanging up each time before saying anything. Without fail, every single call had the exact same message from a bloke named David. It’s not normal to get through to a call centre that quick, and definitely not to speak to the same person repeatedly like that. Feels dodgy, so watch out everyone.

On the 6th of June 2014, this number called me but I didn't answer since I was working (I'm a counsellor and calls during work hours are quite disruptive). I’ve never shared my number with anyone, so I’m puzzled how they got hold of it. I’m also keen to find a way to stop these calls from coming through again. After looking up the number on Google, I found your site - cheers for that, the details and other people's comments have been properly helpful. From what I’ve read, it seems this might be the same number that contacted me a few months back, trying to persuade me to ‘upgrade’ my phone plan, even though I’m on pay-as-you-go and don’t need anything extra. I’m glad I didn’t fall for their pitches. Thanks again for putting up the warnings!

They were trying to get my personal details, so I double checked with EE and Orange to see if they had permission. Turns out, they don’t have any approval to use those networks.

Been getting calls from this number about ee pay as you go deals. I rang up my nearest ee shop to see if it was legit, and they told me they never do cold calls or those offers at all. Sounds dodgy to me.

I get calls from this number like three times a week, always while I'm stuck at work. I don't pick up and have no plans to, but they keep ringing anyway. They’ve even tried ringing other people in my family who are on EE too. From what I’ve heard, it’s a scam to grab your bank info, so defo don’t answer.

Today, I received a call from 01612778195 claiming to be from Orange, offering me extra texts and calls on my mobile. Then they asked for my bank details to carry out a credit check, which I refused to give. I'm on pay as you go, so it made no sense for them to want to check my credit when I just top up my phone with cash.

This number kept ringing me over ten times but I never picked up. Turns out it’s just some fake calls from dodgy people. Does anyone know if there’s any tech that can track who’s behind this number or is it just a waste of time?

I decided to check out the site after a recommendation, hoping to stop calls linked to my mobile. Though I ignored nine missed calls, now these lot have started ringing my landline, using my name and trying to push energy deals on me. I told them I'm not interested. They're really quite persistent. They talked about Ambrose Wilson, which makes me suspicious they're passing my info around. It feels like a real privacy invasion to have your details traded like that, honestly. - A Conway

Kept getting calls from this number and had no clue who it was. When I finally called back, a recorded message said my call was important, so I quickly hung up. After checking online, glad I did - seems like a right pain!

I got calls from some telemarketer named SLM Connect. I found out they have a form on their website if u wanna take ur number off their calling list. It's kinda hidden tho, you gotta check their 'Site Map' and look for something like ‘Remove My Number’. This is what worked for me, not sure if they done changed stuff since then. Anyway, might be useful for someone! :)

I’m 67 and just got one of these calls too, think they might be going after older folks? The person on the line kept talking about me setting up a Direct Debit but I didn’t give them any info apart from my first name. The number was from Manchester and the caller was super pushy. I’m definitely going to get in touch with Orange about this!

This Saturday, my 70-year-old mother in law got a call from this number and somehow ended up sharing her bank details over the phone. When she told me, I was stunned! I looked up the number online and was shocked by what people were saying about it. Fingers crossed we can manage to cancel any direct debits before any money disappears.

Got a call from someone who introduced himself as Jay, said he was with the AA, had a northern accent. Then a lady with a similar northern accent called me too, from a number like his but ending in 94, and another one ending in 96 as well. Looks like they all come from the same call centre or something.

Got a call from this number around 4.35 pm earlier, asking about how much credit I usually add and how long it lasts. Then they started offering a sim with 10 quid a month, 500 free texts and minutes included, said they'd post a new sim but it might take up to a month to arrive. I was getting suspicious by this point. The person said they were from EE, but that didn't seem right. The moment I told them I don’t share personal info over the phone they just hung up. Probably best to just pop down to the EE shop instead and don’t trust calls like this. Watch out!

Got a call earlier from someone claiming they could give me a better phone plan than I have. I told them I was on pay-as-you-go and then the guy just started rambling about some deal, then suddenly ended the call. Later, when I looked into the number, it turned out not to be from Orange or EE at all - totally dodgy.

I had a phone call on a brand new prepaid card that I'd just got and never touched before. How on earth did they manage to find out that number? It's really puzzling!
