This number has been calling my elderly mum, who’s 84, non stop. When she tried ringing them back, she was put on hold for ages and ended up with an enormous bill on her phone before the call just dropped. I’ve had nearly 20 calls from this number in the past fortnight. I only share my number with close friends and family, so it must have come from O2 somehow. This is honestly pretty dodgy, and it’s not the first time O2 have been rubbish at keeping customer details safe.

If you use a smartphone, you should try Easy Call Blocker from Google Play. I put it on my phone and honestly, it's the best move I've made. Setting it up was a breeze - you just let calls from people saved in your contacts go through, and all other numbers, like this one, get sent straight to voicemail. If you haven’t got voicemail set up, it just cuts the call off, which is fantastic.

Had to buy a new phone just to make it stop, but they’re now calling my other number! If I don’t recognise the number, I just don’t pick up, it’s easy. Yet somehow these people just keep at it and don’t seem to give up.

They’ve called me like four times over a couple of weeks, all trying to sell me pay as you go SIM cards. I gave them my info without thinking much, but told them I wouldn’t pass the credit check. I’ve received several calls from this number, and it appears to be related to Sales - but the latter part of the name escapes me. Every time I pick up, they just hang up. When I attempt to return the call, I’m met with a message stating it’s Sales, but once more, I can’t decipher the second half. They seem to suggest that if I can't hold for an agent, I should ring back later. Yet if you choose to stick around, all you hear is “please hold while we endeavour to connect you.” Quite frankly, on the first call, they did mention ‘02’, which is my mobile provider, so I’m left wondering if this might be linked to their marketing efforts. I do hope that’s not the case!

They kept ringing though, but as soon as I told them I wasn’t interested, I just ended the call. Got a call on my mobile today 4/3/15, bloke said he was from 02 and that my SIM was pay as you go with them. I told him no, it’s not, but he insisted it was. Then he asked if I had a contract and paid via bank, I didn’t wanna say. He then said if I wasn’t pay as you go, the deal he had wouldn’t apply, so I just said obviously not and hung up. But if this was a scam, why could I still see their number on my caller ID?
