Bit odd, really. Got a couple of texts saying this ‘William’ (which is my stepdad’s name) won an iPhone in some contest he supposedly entered. Then I get a call saying they need to verify my info to send out a SIM card, just in case he did win the phone. So I asked how they had my family’s info, and the woman said he might’ve ticked or maybe not ticked a marketing box on some online form, and that’s how the marketing lot ended up with my o2 number.

I got a few texts late at night meant for someone called Mark (that’s not me) about winning vouchers or something. Then just a bit ago this number called asking for Mark. I told them they had the wrong number and they just hung up straight away.

This bloke with a Mancunian accent called, claimed I’d ordered a free O2 SIM from some site. When I told him I never did, he said, "We’re just making sure it’s not a scam, I’ll cancel the order then." Bit odd if you ask me, so I’m just gonna block the number.

Got a call from someone claiming they were from o2, but it was a total scam. They were trying to trick me into giving away my personal info!

Scam alert - claimed to be from O2 but kept asking about someone I've never heard of and wanted to know if I knew them. Then asked if I was an O2 customer, I told him if he really was from O2, he’d know whether my number was on their system or not. He said he could send me a text to prove he was legit, like only O2 can send texts or something! Blocked and reported straight away.

He got my name right, but the address he mentioned was ages old. He mentioned something about a SIM card, but his accent was so thick I couldn’t make out most of it. When I asked him to say it again, slowly this time, he just cut the call!

I've received numerous calls from this number. Just yesterday, I inadvertently answered, not bothering to check the caller ID, and lo and behold, it turned out to be O2 on the line! They mentioned that I'd been to their website and were asking where they'd need to send a new SIM card. I promptly ended the call, as I have absolutely no intention of acquiring a new SIM card.

Some bloke rang up asking to check my credit card info, so I told him to jog on. Then this woman called asking for my address, I told her the same. Another lady rang wanting my postcode, I wasn’t having any of it. Then a chap phoned saying I’d won some cash prize and wanted my bank details - I gave him the same answer. Total scam, so I’ve messaged them all to stop calling me.

Happened to me as well, the caller said I’d bought a PAYG sim but then started giving my old address from ages ago. Then got all mixed up saying it was about my monthly contract. SCAM ALERT!!! Got a call from someone claiming to be O2 about some SIM card and an iPhone giveaway. They gave me an address that was ridiculously outdated, I told them that’s not correct. I reckon this was a trick where they called me saying I'd ordered an 02 SIM, then sent me a link to a dodgy 02-like website thanking me for ordering one with my name. A pay-as-you-go 02 SIM actually arrived in the post, then I think they'd want me to sign up through their fake site, pretending to be 02 since I’ve had an 02 SIM before. Looks like the scammers really ordered the SIM from 02 themselves - it’s a clever scam all round.

So basically they got in touch saying i had ordered an 02 sim and then sent me a link to what looked like an 02 site, saying thanks for ordering with my name on it. Then a pay as you go 02 sim arrived in the post. My guess is they’d try to get me to sign up on their fake site, tricking me into thinking it was really 02 since ive had sims with them before. Sounds like the scammers actually ordered the real sim from 02 and now it's all just a massive scam.

Got a call from a woman while I was out shopping, she said I’d supposedly got a £16 O2 SIM and needed my bank info to activate it. She kept pushing until I told her I didn’t have my card on me. She said she’d call again later, but after checking these comments I’m just gonna block the number and pop into an O2 store to sort it properly. Better to be safe than sorry!

Got a call from a bloke who sounded quite nice and seemed to know loads about me, like my address and stuff, saying I’d ordered an O2 sim card. I told him I hadn’t, and he said he’d cancel it. Then I got a text from 88440 saying the order was confirmed. Rang O2 and they said nothing was on my account. Total scam, watch out for this!
