Got a call from First Choice, they said I was a valued customer and could upgrade to extra legroom seats on my holiday. I felt buzzin like I’d hit the jackpot until the bloke mentioned they’d just tack on £120 to my holiday cost. Let’s just say my reply wasn’t very polite before I told them no thanks!

I popped into my local TUI branch for a bit of clarification, and they mentioned that it's indeed their call centre based in South Africa, attempting to upsell various extras. The staff there aren’t particularly pleased about the situation either! I refuse to divulge my card details to anyone ringing me from a dubious local number linked to an overseas call centre; it simply isn’t secure, considering how frequently these tactics are employed by scammers. TUI really needs to sort out their protocols regarding the sharing of our private information with these overseas centres.

Got a call from a dodgy number 0161 233 5780. The woman said she was from TUI checking our Holiday Extras were sorted right. I was busy at work and asked her to ring later in the evening. Then I phoned the shop where I booked the holiday and they said no one from TUI contacted me, and that number’s got nothing to do with them. Can’t wait for her next call, gonna give her a bit of a reality check.

I find it very hard to believe that TUI would hire an overseas call centre to ring customers asking for bank details just to sell extra legroom on their flights. I got a second call from them yesterday. I reached out to TUI when this happened the first time but still haven’t had any confirmation that this isn’t some kind of scam. In the last week, I’ve received a few calls from this number, so I decided to do a bit of digging online. Lo and behold, it turns out it’s linked to Thompson Holidays. This time, when I saw the number pop up again, I thought I’d pick up. I greeted them with, “Hello, is this Thompson Holidays? What assistance can I provide?” To my surprise, they just hung up!

They asked some simple security questions but already had all my booking info - stuff I hadn’t shared over the phone. After our chat, I got an email confirming what we agreed. They didn’t ask for or take any payment during the call. Just to be sure, I rang Thomson using the number on my original booking invoice, and they said it was genuine. If you get calls from scammers, you should report them to the ICO. They don’t really get bothered by posts here, but the ICO actually acts on it and it only takes a couple of minutes to fill out the form on their site. Don’t bother your phone provider about it, they don’t seem to care and just profit off selling caller ID and charging for blocking services.

It's actually Thomson calling, but like others mentioned, they try to get you to upgrade your seats or something. I couldn’t really catch what they were saying and they just assumed I agreed and put an extra £20 on my booking, even though I said no. I had no clue who was calling, couldn’t make out anything they said so I just ended the call. Same number called me again today but I didn’t pick up. After seeing what others said online, I decided to call Thomson since I recently booked a holiday with them to ask about the number. They told me they do have a customer service team that might ring to offer extra services. I told them it sounded a bit suspicious since it was impossible to understand the caller. For me, the safest bet is just to ignore these calls and not call back.

By the time I realised, it was far too late to contact the travel agent from Thompsons that we booked through. I’ll have to do some digging for more details first thing tomorrow. I received a call earlier today from this number. A woman, who had an Indian accent, claimed to be calling from Thomson Holidays, reassuring me that everything with our holiday was perfectly fine. She seemed to know both mine and my husband's first names, as well as the month we made our booking, which was rather concerning. Then, she inquired about the number of travellers and our departure airport, but when she mentioned a completely different destination, I informed her that was incorrect. At that point, she abruptly ended the call. I decided to reach out to Thomson's customer service using the number from my booking confirmation, only to find out they had no record of this number, nor any related information in their system. I urged them to note my concerns regarding this suspicious call, as it appears someone is misrepresenting themselves as part of their organisation. I strongly advise everyone to refrain from sharing any personal information with them.

Caution advised!!! I recently received a rather dodgy call from a lady sporting an Indian accent, purportedly representing Thomson holidays, who was inquiring about my upcoming trip. To start with, they can't even get the month right regarding my booking!
