Got a call from First Choice, they said I was a valued customer and could upgrade to extra legroom seats on my holiday. Received a call from Thomsons on what appeared to be a local number, but it just didn't sit right with me, so I hung up. I popped into my local TUI branch for a bit of clarification, and they mentioned that it's indeed their call centre based in South Africa, attempting to upsell various extras. The staff there aren’t particularly pleased about the situation either! I refuse to divulge my card details to anyone ringing me from a dubious local number linked to an overseas call centre; it simply isn’t secure, considering how frequently these tactics are employed by scammers. TUI really needs to sort out their protocols regarding the sharing of our private information with these overseas centres.

Got a call from a dodgy number 0161 233 5780. The woman said she was from TUI checking our Holiday Extras were sorted right. I was busy at work and asked her to ring later in the evening. Then I phoned the shop where I booked the holiday and they said no one from TUI contacted me, and that number’s got nothing to do with them. Can’t wait for her next call, gonna give her a bit of a reality check.

I find it very hard to believe that TUI would hire an overseas call centre to ring customers asking for bank details just to sell extra legroom on their flights. I got a second call from them yesterday. I reached out to TUI when this happened the first time but still haven’t had any confirmation that this isn’t some kind of scam. This time, when I saw the number pop up again, I thought I’d pick up. I greeted them with, “Hello, is this Thompson Holidays? What assistance can I provide?” To my surprise, they just hung up!

If you get calls from scammers, you should report them to the ICO. They don’t really get bothered by posts here, but the ICO actually acts on it and it only takes a couple of minutes to fill out the form on their site. Don’t bother your phone provider about it, they don’t seem to care and just profit off selling caller ID and charging for blocking services.

It's actually Thomson calling, but like others mentioned, they try to get you to upgrade your seats or something. I couldn’t really catch what they were saying and they just assumed I agreed and put an extra £20 on my booking, even though I said no. Apparently, their outbound squad rings up customers now and then to let them know about cheaper options for bits of their trip they might want to add - like flights or other extras. So, it might actually be legit after all!

Got a call from this number around 7.30pm yesterday evening, just like lots of other people said. The lady asked about plane seats and seemed to know where we were headed, but she messed up the place. So I didn't tell her anything else, then she just said bye and ended the call.

Got a call a moment ago from someone who didn’t identify themselves, but I could hear several people chatting faintly in the background like a call centre. I’ve heard before that fraudsters sometimes add fake background noise to sound legit, so I just ended the call straight away. If Thomsons are using an external firm for calls and there’s customer info involved, they really should look into this ASAP.

Today I got a ring from this number, and it was a woman speaking with an Indian accent claiming she was from Thomson Holidays. She said there was no problem with our holiday and insisted on talking to the main passenger. Oddly, she knew both me and my husband’s first names plus the month we booked our trip. She started asking about how many people were flying and which airport we’d use. Then she mentioned a completely wrong destination, and when I corrected her, she just hung up. I called Thomsons directly using the number provided in our booking, and they said they had no info on this number or anything linked to it. I told them to note my complaint and be cautious about anyone calling pretending to be from them. Don’t share your details if they contact you.
