I missed a call from this number and decided to ring back. An automated voice picked up straight away, saying it was from some 'National Survey'. It did mention pressing 1 if you want to stop getting calls from them, but I'm not touching any buttons - you just dont know where that might lead or if it risks anything dodgy. This is the only time I've heard from this number, so I can't say it's been a pest yet, but it definitely felt a bit suspicious.

I picked up the phone and the person on the other end said it was a nationwide survey linked to the government census. They wanted to run through some questions, like whether I read any newspapers, which energy company I use, and how I pay for it, like direct debit or something. I told them I didn’t really feel right answering since the questions seemed a bit odd and they couldn’t explain what the survey was actually about. They kept pushing, saying it’d only take a minute and just a couple more questions, but I wasn’t having it.

Got a call from someone with a very English accent saying they were doing a ‘national survey’. When I asked who was behind it, they just kept saying it was a ‘national survey’ and then asked what paper I usually read. I nicely told them I wouldn’t answer if they wouldn’t say who they were working for. Felt fishy, like it was a scam, and that harmless question was probably gonna lead to loads more intrusive ones.
