Phone number ☎️ 01587496852 👆 is reported as a persistent scam involving callers claiming to be from BT, often citing issues with broadband or internet security. Callers typically use foreign or Asian accents, provide fake names and numbers, and ask for personal or financial information, sometimes requesting remote access to devices. Many calls are silent or end abruptly with a pre-recorded "goodbye." Genuine BT representatives never ask for credit card details or unsolicited remote access, and BT has confirmed these calls as fraudulent. Recipients are advised not to engage, avoid sharing personal information, and report the numbers to official channels. Blocking and call-filtering services, such as those offered by BT, are recommended to reduce the nuisance.

9 yearsGot a missed call from 01587496852 on the evening of 17th July 2017, about 6.40pm. Looked the number up on this site and saw loads of people saying it’s dodgy. Glad I’ve got that new BT call blocking feature - definitely worth the money keeping all these nuisance calls away!9 yearsSome bloke rang me up saying I'd been in some sort of crash and asked for my credit card details. I just laughed and told him his mum would be covering the bill instead!9 yearsThis number seems to ring me every couple of weeks, and when they do, it's typically some mumbling little chap or a pesky automated message. It's a right nuisance! you'd think BT would eventually do something about it, but then again, I'd sooner see pigs take to the skies than that happening!BT9 yearsI received a couple of phone calls today; the first caller claimed he could halt those pesky cold calls but then swiftly started probing for my bank card information. The second call was quite odd-there was complete silence on the line before I heard a rather abrupt 'goodbye'. Quite peculiar, to say the least!9 yearsI received a rather dubious phone call from a chap who had an Asian accent, purporting to be from B.T. He claimed there was an issue with my broadband due to my IP address being misused by folks overseas, which, in turn, has allegedly caused my internet to be a tad sluggish. He insisted on conducting some tests and asked whether I had a computer or mobile device nearby. My instincts were immediately on high alert, so I decided to reach out to B.T. directly through their website via my mobile instead. This con artist even supplied me with a phoney job reference number and a number to reach him, which only added to my suspicion. I’m quite cautious about sharing any personal details with cold callers. When I inquired about his name, he said it was Albert Cooper; being a bit cheeky, I replied that I was Pope Francis, and then politely ended the call.B. TB. T.Albert CooperPope Francis9 yearsI picked up the phone and they just cut me off. Happened to me the day before as well.9 yearsThey claimed to be from BT. When I told them I don’t take cold calls, they just told me to f*** off and then ended the call.BT9 yearsI received a rather dubious phone call from someone with an Asian accent, who insisted they were from BT. They claimed that my broadband had been compromised by external hackers. It immediately struck me as a scam designed to gain access to my internet connection and infiltrate my system. He then passed me on to a so-called "floor manager," who instructed me to press the Windows key and R simultaneously to open the Run dialogue, where I was meant to type in "event vwr" to access the event viewer. He was supposedly going to demonstrate the hacking incident taking place in California-all very fishy! When I pressed him about which hub I was using, he couldn't provide a clear answer. After wasting a fair bit of time on this, I mentioned that I needed to restart my computer and promptly disconnected the Wi-Fi. It became abundantly clear that I was dealing with a scammer who was simply wasting my time!BTCalifornia9 yearsI picked up and all I got was a voice saying goodbye - seems like a total scam to me.9 yearsGot a call from this number. Strange thing is, some automated voice just said "Goodbye" and then it just cut off. Feels like one of those scam calls.9 yearsGot a call from BT about my internet, total spam. I dragged the call out for ages just to waste their time and hopefully rack up some charges. Then I blocked the number using BT Protect (1572) service. Hopefully that's the last time they bother me.BT9 yearsGot a call from this number claiming to be from BT, saying my account was gonna be suspended for 10 days. I told them straight up I wasn’t falling for their scam and told them to buzz off before hanging up.9 yearsGot a dodgy call from somewhere in the Far East, definitely a scam.Far East9 yearsI received a call on the 10th of July from an Asian chap who introduced himself as Keith. He was apparently ringing about some "issues" with my broadband connection. I wasn't convinced by what he was saying, so I cut the conversation short. Seems like the call blocking option is utterly useless!Keith9 yearsI mentioned to my elderly mum that the callers claimed to be from the "Exeter Management Company." Thankfully, she had the good judgement to hang up on them.Exeter Management Company9 yearsGot a few calls from some unknown number, rang me a couple times. Missed it every time before it cut off, so I looked up the number with 1471 and it said it doesn’t exist. Then I rang BT to ask about it and they said it was probably a scam. I didn’t hang about and cut the call short, then rang my real provider to check. Then about 45 mins later, same number called again - I wasn’t having it and told them where to go!BT9 yearsI received a call from someone with an Asian accent amidst a lot of background noise, claiming to be from BT. They said there were issues with my broadband being hacked by others. Having looked into it further, I suspect this is an elaborate attempt to gain access to my broadband for nefarious purposes.
