Just like loads of others, we’ve had this number ringing us pretty much every day. The very first call was one of them automated energy sales messages, so we just started ignoring it. But now, after seeing all the other annoyed comments here, I’ve gone ahead and blocked it. I also texted the number over to 7726 to let the telecom folks handle it. Hopefully they’ll sort it out soon.

Some bloke called claiming to be from an “energy efficiency” team nearby, saying my loft insulation was dangerous and that I needed a survey right away. He wasn’t interested in hearing anything and just kept pushing to get a guy into my house. I had to tell him to shut up for a bit and listen properly before I told him to do one and blocked his number. Feels like they’re focusing on people aged 40 to 80 and over, thinking they’re easier to convince. Seriously, don’t let these lot into your home!

Looks like every number beginning with 01544 329 and just changing the last three digits is a spam call - loads of folks have reported getting calls from these. Most of the time, it’s about loft insulation, but they’re always dodgy. Over the last week, I’ve had calls from numbers ending 836, 837 and 841 but thankfully, my Call Guard app blocks them every time. If more people used Call Guard or anything like it, these scam calls would soon fizzle out ‘cause they wouldn’t be picked up and scammers would probably give up.

When I asked which register it was, they muttered something about it being a government list. I pointed out that couldn’t be right since no one had done any survey or even come around, then they just went silent and ended the call.
