I’m pretty sure these people get their info from some dodgy source. They actually had my full name, car reg and insurance company details. I received a call from this number (which I chose to ignore), and previously, I foolishly answered a call from a withheld number, only to hear laughter in the background-definitely had the vibe of a call centre. Interestingly, they were asking for my daughter. Although the phone contract is under her name, I’m the one who actually pays the bill and owns the device. I've just received a call from the same number for the second time in about six weeks. A lady by the name of Kellsy was on the other end. When I requested her surname, she was far from pleased, demanding to know why I’d even ask. I did a bit of digging and found that Nationwide Claims Direct has been dissolved not once, but twice. Their latest version has been active since August 2014. When I told Kellsy that I hadn’t made any claims, she ended the call abruptly. I then reached out to Nationwide, and they confirmed that these calls are part of a phishing scam. Whatever you do, don’t divulge any personal information to them. It's infuriating that they already have my name and number!

These firms ring you up, keen to discuss the possibility of filing a “dodgy” accident claim on your behalf. Lo and behold, they rang me again and actually spoke this time. It took me three attempts to get a clear answer regarding the caller's identity, as their enunciation was all over the place.
