Got a cheeky bloke on the phone claiming to be from 'Advantage Heating Check'. He said he was aware I had double glazing and was offering a free efficiency check on the windows. I told him we’re signed up with the tps, and he insisted it wasn’t a sales call. Told him where to go and blocked the number straight away!

Some idiots rang our home phone earlier and, like always, they hung up sharpish once our answerphone came on. Pretty sure the number’s fake, so don’t automatically think it’s from Liverpool (England). These scam folks have their gear dial lots of numbers at once, so I changed our answerphone to pick up after just two rings. Hopefully this'll annoy them a bit since our machine’s often the first one that picks up in the bunch!

I asked for the company's name three times and each time the line crackled and I couldn't hear the first word properly. It was "Something" Energy Management, apparently. I was suspicious about the call and looked up the number online, then saw these reviews. Best to steer clear.

Got a call from a bloke this morning around 9.40am claiming to be from a company testing energy. When I told him we weren't interested, he got really nasty and ended up telling me to "f*** off" before hanging up on me.

I answered even tho I knew the number was dodgy from the area code. The bloke asked if I was Mr.. which just happened to be my wife’s maiden name. I just said no calm like, and he said sorry wrong number and put the phone down. We’re on the TPS but still get some calls, just not as many as before.

These dodgy firms use 'spoofing' by faking their caller ID with a bogus or made-up number, which means they can get past things like anonymous call blockers or people ignoring strange numbers from abroad. So they'll ring you up, but even if you've dialled 1471 to check, you won't be able to ring them back. The calls are made through the internet using voip tech.

Got a call from a guy named Dave, sounded pretty nice. He offered a free test, but I declined and he was totally fine with it. We ended up having a little chat about my dogs before he ended the call respectfully. Kinda feel bad now for turning him down, wish i'd said yes.

I haven’t visited this site in ages, but the pushy, rude, and downright cheeky bloke who phoned me this morning has really riled me up enough to leave a note here. I tried keeping things civil, but he clearly didn't take no for an answer and even told me to relax. After spending 30+ years in Customer Service myself, I’d never dream of talking to someone like that. Makes me wonder who their real clients are, who’s managing the lot, and if there’s any regulator who could shut these muppets down?
