Some bloke rang me and already knew my name, saying my washing machine’s warranty was nearly up. He claimed to be from a firm called Appliance Protection Ltd. I asked where they were based and he just said somewhere between London and Gatwick. When I wanted a proper address, he just hung up on me.

Got a call from Appliance Protection UK claiming my washing machine warranty was about to run out, and they actually used my name! I told them I wanted to speak to a manager, but as soon as I asked how they had my information, the call just got cut off. Total rubbish.

I got a call from 01516011909 again today, my second time receiving it. I looked up a company named APU Ltd., which seems to be a legit business from Birmingham dealing with insurance and investigations - their number starts with 0121 and from what I saw online, they seem trustworthy. But these calls coming from 0151 don’t match that firm at all, so I’d be really careful if you get a ring from this number, as it smells like a dodgy scam to me.

So I got a ring from a lass who seemed quite polite, asking if I’d like to renew some washer insurance. Trouble is, she already knew my name, address, postcode, and my landline number!
