They insisted that unless my solicitor and I returned their call to address an urgent issue within a day, I would inevitably face repercussions. When I attempted to ring back to express my frustration, the number was invalid. It’s truly disheartening that individuals resort to such deceitful tactics to prey on others. I received an unsettling phone call that was clearly a scam, purporting to be from HMRC. The caller claimed to represent an HMRC officer and insisted that I should "ring them back without delay". Whatever you do, don’t comply with this! - caller: Bogus HMRC

Just received a dodgy robocall purportedly from HMRC. My advice? Don’t bother ringing them back. I've just had a similar experience. When I rang back, an Indian chap picked up and claimed to represent HMRC, alleging that I was facing court action for tax evasion! He insisted that I owed them a sum of £3,095. When I probed for details, all I got was the same line about tax evasion, before he abruptly hung up on me! - Caller: Bogus HMRC.
